Macie is pregnant?!?! I am not sure if my Macie "hooked up" with her boyfriend during the week while she was there. She is now not eating much and laying around and the vet says that they cannot tell yet. What is this about cottage cheese?

I am assuming you took her for a visit to see him? Time will tell 2-3 weeks into gestation she will have a bit of morning sickness usually only lasts a few days. I have one who is sick the week after breeding.

Most of the time their stomach does not start getting bigger until the 4th or 5th week. It can vary depending on size of the mom and how many puppies she is carrying. How old is she and how much does she weigh? If she was bred she should be on a good quality puppy food. It is common for them to loose their appetite the first few weeks after breeding.

She weighs 4.5 lbs and is eating Euka...(sp?) yorkie formula. She used to engulf it as soon as we put in it her bowl - now it may be hours before she eats. She is almost 2 and this is her 3rd heat cycle. I read that some breeders give their expecting moms cottage cheese? Is this true and how much? She just seems so needy now Last edited by BossierMacie; 02-16-2008 at 03:09 PM.

I would think starting with a tablespoon mixed in with her food would be okay. I always gave it to them after they had puppies to give them extra calcium. I hope all goes well with her pregnancy. Keep us updated.

| I just read on the breeder's board that giving extra calcium BEFORE whelping can make the mommy more susceptible to eclampsia Please ask on the breeder's board about that.
