| Lily's surgery Hi everyone, I heard from MSU yesterday they said there is only one surgeon down there that will do Lily’s LP surgery and they want to do both legs at once, approximate cost of 3,500. The doc. they said wanted to do it her name is Dr.Flow is supposedly world renown but I looked her up and all the stuff I read says she retired in 02’ this makes me worried. Why did she retire and why is she the only one that will do the surgery. I also thought that the estimate was a little high from what I have heard from others. Well I am really nervous and have to make a decision on rather I want to go ahead with this surgeon. O also they said they need to make sure lily’s growth plated are fused before we move forward, at what age is this supposed to happen? Please any thoughts.

| Did you try Oakland Veterinary Referral Services? They do LP surgery there and some of the doctors are board certified. I do not know if they know what they are doing though....... So please don't take my word for it. www.ovrs.com

| Here's a link to Michigan Veterinary Specialists: http://www.michvet.com/departments/surgery.asp Dr Alsup did Lucy's LP surgery. They wanted to do the surgery before her bones hardened. She was only 4 or 5 months old. Last edited by majic50; 01-30-2008 at 01:57 PM. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | $3500 is what the orthopedic surgeon in my area charges as well for both legs. don't feel pressured into deciding. if there is another place you can talk to i would just to see if you feel more comfortable with them.

| The more I think of it, I think the cost was more. I think it was $1800 per knee if I had them done seperate, or $2700 if they were both done at one. I'm really sorry that I got that wrong at first, but it was definitely cheaper than MSU and they were really nice and explained everything and treated my baby really well. |
