Default Dixie won't eat

My poor baby Dixie will not eat. I started her on her kidney failure meds Saturday night and by Monday morning she was so sick, throwing up and sleeping all the time. The specialist said to stop all meds Monday morning and call him on Thursday. She has shown no improvement at all. I can not get her to eat. I have tried everything, baby food, chicken. She just gets up to drink. SHe weighed 2 lbs 2 ounces and I can feel she has lost more weight.
I have been giving her nutrical but I know she can't go on like this. Unfortunatley, the specialist isn't in today. I really wanted to try and do everything I could for her, but my head is telling me she is too sick to fight this. I just hold her and try not to cry when I an holding her. She is 6 months old and hasn't even had a chance at a normal life. It is breaking my heart. Please keep us in your prayers.

Patti~

Omg I am so sorry.. I have cold chills all over my body.. I pray to Jesus for you and Dixie... I dont understand all of this stuff. I know you know what we are going through and it is just indescribable. I had no idea your little one was not eating. I wish they could talk and tell us what was wrong untill then we are their life line and their support and voice.... You are one great mommy. I am sending prayers up right now.... please keep us posted.. I know this website is encouraging to me and definitely helping the time go by till this neurosurgeon calls ... Your baby is tiny and so is Bleu I was told the smaller the more complications. I pray she eats today.

Dear Lord,
Please give Dixie the want and courage and strength to eat Lord. Please no suffering Lord. Lord we ask you to give mom peace that passes all understanding in all this we ask your name AMEN!

Hugs and Prayers
Vicki

Patti, I am soo soo sorry.. I can only imagine this poor babies pain.. god knows we would take all their pain in a second if we could.... umm I have a suggestion I don't know if it will work in her case but you could try.... why don't you blend some chicken and veggiies or just plain chicken and puree it.. stick it in a syringe and try to feed it to her like if it were meds....?

Last week when Gizmo was down and wouldnt do anything but sleep I took him for walks to get his energy and endorphins up...... just a idea....

I wish I had the cure for you .... we have sweet Dixie in our prayers and hope that she turns around soon.. maybe take her to her usual vet in the mean time ... maybe they can prescribe something to get her appetite up?

Patti,
How about some fruit? Apples pieces, dried cranberries, dried blueberries? Mine LOVE these things?

Can she have sweet potatoes? I make french fries (baked) out of sweet potatoes and again, mine go NUTS for them?

What about yogurt? Vanilla Ice Cream? Anything to get her to start to eat...

I know you are probably getting so many suggestions but Canned Halo Spot Stew for Dogs *chicken, is unreal. My poodle/mix actually bit thru a can to get to it. There is something about this food they absolutelly love. There is sooo much liquid, big chucks of chik, I smash the veggies. Pleas try. My older yorkie went on it and he improved so much. It's worth a try. Prayers are being sent your way. I believe Petco carries it.

Oh Patti...my heart aches for you. I wish I had a suggestion for you, but I can't think of anything, so for now, I'll just keep praying for you and sweet little Dixie. Hugs to you, dear friend.

Are you giving her any pedilite? It might help perk her up. My vet says that honey and water is better than Nutri-Cal. My heart is breaking for Dixie and you. I pray that they are able to help her. I know she is greatly loved. Stay strong.

Oh, Patti! Can she have grated Parmesan (in the green can)? Bc it has a very strong, pungent, cheesy smell - oftentimes dogs will eat whatever you sprinkle it on. Could that be something to try? Can she have white fish? Mashed potatoes? Cereal even?

Patti, I pray that Dixie is able to eat something, she needs her strength right now Even if you could get some runny oatmeal into her, it would help. Poor baby

Prayers going up to our Father to get y'all through this!

Patti,

Something I do, when Kia is sick and won't eat, is cook her a small amount of oatmeal. Continue with the Nutrical, but I agree, the baby does need some solid food in her tummy.

When is the specialist going to be back in the office?

I am still praying for you & Dixie.

Hugs,
Sheila

Thanks Dixie ate some Cesars, I was desperate but she is still sleeping all the time. I will try some more in a little bit. The breeder and I spent 1 1 /2 hours talking today and she feels so bad and gave me some suggestions as well. I am hoping I can get her back towhere she was priot to the meds and take it from there. Your prayers and support mean the world to me and truly is getting me through these difficult days. I will keep you posted. I am spending most of my time holding her and keeping her warm. Thanks
