| Stitches coming out (not Ellie) This is probably in the wrong spot but I thought it would get more views here. My cousin's hubby has a cat that he took to the vet. The vet did surgery and put a tube in it somewhere. I have no idea what kind of surgery and no idea where the tube is but I guess it could be draining stuff out of the cat's side. The top stitches are coming out and they almost took it to the ER last night. The vet asked if they wanted and appt. today but they are waiting til Monday. How long does it take for infection to set in with open stitching?

| I wouldn't wait till Monday. I'd be afraid of infection.

| Do you know if the drainage tube is due to draining an abscess?

| I just saw the cat a little bit ago. The drainage tube is draining a mystery abscess. The end of the tube is gone and they don't know where it went. The incision is about three inches long and enough stitching came out so that there is about the diameter of a quarter opened up. It is discusting and I am very concerned. This happened last night. They called their vet and they said it could wait til Monday. They did say to clean it but didn't say what to use. They called Ellie's vet (they take 24 hour emergencies) and the tech said they would want to xray to look for the end of the tube in case the cat ate it and restitch. There would be an $85 er fee. They are waiting til Monday so far.

| Yup, but you know about how far you can go with family members when they aren't taking you seriously? All I can say is GO NOW. The spot that is open is pink and not infected YET. It will be interesting come Monday if they don't break down and go to Ellie's vet office before then.

| Oh, and they didn't send the cat home with an e-collar either or offer one when this problem came up... I am mad right now. There are so many vets that I am just not liking around here lately.

Hopefully there will be no problems come monday. Tell them to wash it with warm water and soap and to clean up any drainage right away as it drips out.

| They ended up taking the cat to Ellie's vet office last night and it required emergency surgery. I can't believe the other vet said wait til Monday.
