Default Help! not sure whats wrong!!

Jake is almost just over 4 months old and ever since the day i got him hes has been doing this gagging thing. I'm not to sure how to describe it in any other way as he is trying to be sick but never does. Jake does this a few times a day some times more! recently he has been doing it in the middle of the night, waking me and him up, It seems to be getting worse. He mostly does it after he eats!!.I have asked the vet and she says it MIGHT be something to do with his breathing and something closing but she wouldn't know until they do x-rays for 200$ or she sees it.Well, he never does it when hes there, and she said that the x-rays might not even catch it because he has to be doing it or it has to be closed when the picture is being taken. its really worrying me because i don't know if its getting worse, if its hurting him etc and i don't wanna pay 200$ when they don't think that it will even been seen so it wont even help him! Any suggestions or help would be awesome Im really clueless to what to do for him

I really wish I had an answer for you... I can imagine that to be a bit upsetting not to know exactly what it is. Did you ever bring it up the the breeder you bought your pup from? Or maybe getting a second opinion from another vet might help you too... Keep us posted

i have told the lady i bought him from she didn't really seem to care, since i have got him he has been nothing but sick, she told me that dogs get sick, and none of her other dogs have had any problems!. I bought him very good food from the vet and as far as i know i take very good care of him, but when i got him he had kennel cough he had worms and some other intestinal bug. im going to call another vet tomorrow and see if they say anything different, but if anyone has any answers it would be very helpful

It could be. I feed Louis royal canin and he weighs 11lbs. I was over feeding him I was giving him 1/2 twice a day. He never gagged he just didn't eat and was basically bloated. He would sometimes throw up though, randomly. I called my vet and he said 1/4 twice a day. I thought that if I followed the directions on the back of the box it would be Ok, but I even minimized it in half which was a cup a day and that was too much.

Here is a website I found on YT that helps me with certain medications. Also try google-ing his symptoms. SEEK PROFESSIONAL advice before trying anything we give you here, Good luck!

You might do a search on this site for collapsed trachea. See if his symptoms match those described. I think one of the threads even had a video so you could see and hear what it sounds like. I sure hope that's not what it is, but it would be worth checking out.

Okay I was doing some research for you. I hope that this helps.

Go to this thread and look at post 15. All of it is good though. There is some great information on there. Good luck and I hope your baby is alright.

mickey does something similar. he runs around and then does this little coughing thing. when i asked the vet she said his heart and lungs were fine and that sometimes yorkies have a narrow throat. something to do with the soft palate or something. anyway she said it isnt anything to worry about.
