Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yorkies make you fat I have gained more than 30 pounds since I got my Yorkies. I was an athlete the day we got Eddie, and now I'm a slug. I blame it all on him! Exercise used to be my priority, and now my Yorkies are my priority. Instead of going on a long bike ride in the morning, I go on a short walk and then play keep-away in the backyard. Instead of riding my bike to work, I drive so I can get home quickly during my dinner break and play with my boys. Does anyone else let their Yorkies run their lives?

| Yorkiewhipped..... I don't know if it's the Yorkies or YT that's creating the middle age spread??? When I had the brain injury in 1999 I was unable to do alot on my own. I had double vision or no vision in my left eye and my balance was nil so I could not ride my bike anymore. So, after talking to our wonderful groomer, she taught me to groom my own dogs. I sat with her for hours just watching her. I was lucky to have Maggie who was a noodle dog and would just lay on the table and let me practice on her. Then there was Rocky who (after I lost Jack I didn't think I could love another dog) stole my heart the min he was born (tail first, my little breech baby). Then Sunnie the "she devil". They got me through when i was at my worst. Yes, I gained weight. But they were the best therapy for my mind that I could have had. I got better for awhile but now I'm in a period of loss again. The only thing that seems to help keep my mind working is YT & the dogs. But there's always hope. My dr is sending me to the Memory Clinic here in Muskegon at the hospital and they're going to try and help me find myself again. I truly believe that there is something special about the breed. They are so focused & tenacious. When I'm in a "lost" state they surround me and I feel grounded. I am truly blessed to have them in my life.

| OK, i just re-read what I posted. Memories......... I must have forgotten the topic, sorry. Can I blame the Yorkies for getting fat instead of the pizza, cookies, being over 50 & inactive???

YT 500 Club Member | O def. My primary focus used to be school and then my relationship with my boyfriend. Dont get me wrong I still love him more than anything.. well except maybe Armani. I used to work out 4x a week and now I would rather be home. I study but only if Armani is sleeping. I need to break this habit and get back to my school work I only have one year left of college and I am a double major.. I cannot really fall back. But o my o my.. my baby is so addictive. My boyfriend is jealous of him!!

| He has definitely changed my life. I cant imagine it without him! He makes me laugh every day. Especially when Im down. But, I dont think he has changed my lifestyle too much. I still work, go out with friends, go on dates and do my normal household stuff etc. The one thing that has changed, I don't leave the house for longer than 8 hours. On the weekends it is shorter like 3 hours. I try to take him with me on the weekends. During the week, I go straight home from work because I dont like leaving him home longer than I have to. Before I had him I would run errands after work, go hang out etc. and wouldnt come home until late. Now, If I have to to anything after work, I come home first. The other thing is, I walk more...which is a good thing especially on those days I dont feel like working out!

| The yorkies have definately changed my life but I still feel like I have some control. But, my life changed in the opposite way of yours, Mike. I used to be totally sedentary...never exercised. I hated exercising and still do hate it but now I MAKE myself take the yorkies on walks a couple of times a day which has caused me to actually LOSE weight since I got them! Instead of going out on the town at night, we now prefer to stay at home with the dogs. BUT, we still have some control. Probably once a week we'll put the yorkies in their crate and have a night out with friends. |

| Conner had definitely changed my lifestyle. I have lost weight (because he loves his walks). I do not make the stops after work that I did before Yorkie. My husband and I would go out for dinner almost every night (now we go once a week and bring home a doggie bag). We would go to concerts, casinos and do everything under the sun and moon. Now we are homebodies (and just loving it)!!!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | You are cracking me up! I thought your first answer was perfect! As for the rest of you, I see I'm not alone. Hard to believe a dog can literally change the way we live our lives. But I agree, it's almost all good.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I would say that my life changed a lot, although I have a itty bit of control I used to like to go out, but now I'd rather stay home and go out when it's necessary. I haven't gone to the movies since I got Bengi!!!! (a year ago!!!!). I'd rather rent a movie and watch it at home with Bengi on my lap Sometimes I really need to go out, but I feel so guilty when I'm leaving, watching his sad eyes looking at me ahhhhhhhh. |

| I've actually lost a lot of weight since I got my yorkie! I know that between aug. and december, I lost like 11lbs, and I'm not sure how much I lost since then, but I cant fit into any of the clothes I bought last year.
