| Docked Tails Just wondering how many people had Yorkie's whose tails haven't been docked... it's now illegal in the UK to dock tails, except some circulmstances... So, tell me about your dogs tails....

| My Rhapsody has a full tail. I love it; it's so expressive. Tiger's tail is docked, and Ocean's is also. Here's a picture of Rhapsody and her tail from yesterday.

| Winston's is docked, and so was Spencer's, both done already before we got them. I love the look, and I have always thought of Yorkies as having docked tails, but I've seen many that still have long tails, and I have to admit they're awfully cute...it's hard to wag that little stump.

| Mika's tail is docked. Just my opinion, I don't like the way Yorkies look with tails. They're so little, and the tail is so big, I think it looks funny.. I don't mean to offend anyone.

| Years ago you had to pay tax on dogs unless your dog was a working dog, working dogs were exempt from tax so people started doing it so they wouldn't have to pay. Docking was thought to have been done to increase a dog’s speed, prevention of damage in dog fights, prevention of back injury and rabies prevention! Animal welfare wasn't the same as it is now... The most common reasons now a days is to avoid tail damage from bushes and brambles, etc, hygiene and maintaining breed standards.

| I think that the U.S. should follow in the footsteps of the U.K. All but my Tia have docked tails. Personally, if I had been given the choice I would have kept their tails intact. I think it's a cruel thing to do and feel that the U.S. should follow in the foot steps of the U.K. and make it illegal. Just my oppinion. Elaine |

| No offense taken. I definately think it's a preference/opinion thing. . . no right or wrong.

Seems common but to me, (my personal opinion), it's cruel whatever reason it's done!
