| How much time do you spend training your Yorkie? I was wondering if most people train their little ones or not, if so - how many times a day/week do you find time to teach them commands. Even if you only have them sit before feeding, it counts. Of course, I'd love to hear from YTalkers who taught their baby to heel, fetch things, roll over, recall, stay and other more complicated things... Please don't be shy . I'm working on Sit and Down. Also, we're practising Come in different surroundings - not working out every time yet LOL. Pepper is 6 months and I do 1 or 2 short sessions every morning and try the same at night.

| I work with Buddy each morning for 1/2 hr and constantly correct him when I am home. It would be very easy for this little stinker to take control if I didn't. He's waiting for the day when he wears me out so he can rule the roost. Carol & Buddy |

| I work with Jaden in segments. We work for about 10 minutes, three different times a day. I've found this way he doesn't get bored and training isn't something he hates but actually enjoys because he knows he'll get treats. So far we've learned sit, down, come, heel, shake hands (both of his paws), Up, Circle, and he's working on walking in a circle on his two back legs. I've found the best way to teach them something is to do it with them over and over again and once its done give them positive reinforcement. With Jaden, I have to do something about 20 times before he even gets the idea that we're suppose to be learning something. After about 35 times he finally gets it so just keep trying and don't give up, they'll get it eventually! |
