Default What kind of coat does your yorkie have?

I want to know what kind of coat is most common among YT's yorkies!

I still can't completely decide what kind of coat Emma has...anyone know?

See her pic below-She's the one on the left in the picture. The Yorkie on the right is her boyfriend, Roi, who lives upstairs from us in our condo

It looks to me like her coat is silky but I'm an amateur. Does she mat up easily?

I voted cotton coat for Gus.
Sometimes it is better than others -- if it has just been washed and conditioned or even after a good brushing it shines and looks silky (he can even go a couple of days without brushing and not be a matted mess) but I know he really has a cotton coat. On bad days he poofs out like a cotton ball. Plus, I see the yorkies with a silk coat and his just can't compare.

After reading that again I realized a lot of the same can be said about my own hair. lol We were meant for each other.

I had to vote other -- just puppies right now -- puppy coats? Hoping they are both silky coats like their parents.

Probably best if everyone would stop quoting this goofy guy's entire post in their posts. That way Admin can just delete ONE post instead of going through the entire thread deleting. His post is on here what, 4 times now? I don't think it deserves perpetuation -- JMHO. Maybe mine will have to be deleted as well. Hope it doesn't mess up the whole thread though, because it is a good poll quesiton!

Abbie's a silk coat.

btw: if they're categorized 'Silky', 'Cottony', 'Wooly', and 'Wire' - what's 'other'...??? a combo?

I think Twinkie has a cotton coat, sometimes I can't seem to decide, but I'm pretty sure she has a cotton coat.

Looks like a silky coat to me!!!!!! Does she matt easily? If she matts easily, she probably has a cottony coat. But it certainly looks silky!

So, I THINK I've decided she's a cotton coat.

I've never had any problems with her matting until the last week. Her hair is growing out from the usual puppy cut we've had her in..it's probably 4-5 inches long on her head and 3 inches over the rest of her body. It seems every time we put her in any kind of clothes for more than an hour, she mats. Some were so bad I had to cut them out

What's the best way to get mats out of a cotton coat? Any good way to prevent them?

Take a pic of her facing the camera. If her eyes reflect green or blue, she's probably silky. Looks like a silk coat to me; but, I'm an amateur, too .
