| Here in Holland, most breeders send the puppies to their new homes after they had them chipped, Chanel was too small to have her done at that age so her breeder gave us the chip to have it done by our vet when she was a bit bigger. Health insurance covers chipping too. If you want to take them out the country you need to show the chip number etc.... So yes mine are microchipped.

| I have had the majority of mine done already and have a few more to go. I figure this way if something would happen I would have a better chance of finding them. |

| Stewie is not microchipped and I honestly don't see the point of doing it in my area. Vet offices all have different microchipping services. It's not universal - there are a ton of companies that offer microchippping services. For example, if someone finds Stewie and brings him to be "scanned", he might not have the right brand of microchip for that office. I would definitely microchip him if there was only one universal microchipping service because it would be practical. Whenever he is outside, he wears two tags. One with my number and address on it and one with 3 other phone numbers of my family members that can always be reached in case of an emergency.

| WELL worth it. I've had two dogs already returned to me due to their AVID microchips. They were lost during transport on airplanes (FYI). Oh, and my understanding is that while there are many micro chip companies out there now (Home Again, AVID...) that all scanners are universal IN THE SENSE that while the scanner cannot read the number to the chip, that it will detect that the dog is at least chipped. -?- On this, I may really be wrong. I did my homework and discovered that AVID products are carried by more vets in the US and Canada than ANY other company out there, which is why I went w/ AVID. |

| I am wondering if anyone has ever had a Yorkie (or any breed) have a reaction to the "foreign body" (the chip) being inserted? I am wondering if any dog's body has ever "rejected" the chip and caused health problems? My Buddy has had just about everything wrong with him in the last 3 1/2 years and I am not sure I want to be the one to cause him to have a reaction?
