| I've had both males and females, but prefer females only because of the leg hiking issue.

| I prefer Males. Moki was wee pad trained in a week. Took more time to get him to go outside. But 95% he rings the bell and goes outside. If not he will go on his wee pad. I like females also I just like how the boys act Macho no matter how small they are. But Moki is socialized so he doesn't act tough to dogs. But really doesn't matter I like girls also I just happen to have a boy. Next is gonna be a girl...So I guess I didn't anwser the question ??? |

| Males! I find them less stubborn, less independent, and less bitchy! hehe

| I prefer females. No reason really. I had boy dogs growing up so I wanted a girl when I got Rosie. I also only had sons so i needed a little girl power! Now I'm hooked for life!

| I like boys better because then I don't have to deal with bloody mess. I know neutering would take care of that problem, but... I just like the boys better. The girls to be more fun with apparel. The tu-tu's, dresses, etc. Eventually I want one of each, but i want my boy first.

| Can you train a male to use an indoor potty pad and not hike their leg?

| i've had both and have been around yorkies a lot because my best friend was a well-respected breeder for decades. of course, it all comes down to each individual dog's traits, but in general *i* have found that: boys tend to be more playful, desiring of attention and interested in learning tricks, are less anxious, hyper, yappy, moody, and stubborn, and are more tolerant of well-behaved children and "strangers" (as in any invited guest). i've also found that boys are *easier* to potty train (however, this usually doesn't stop them from marking their territory indoors at least occasionally, unfortunately -- which is a *major* reason i prefer girls). girls, on the other hand, don't lift their leg on furniture or have the constant need to water every tree, and are far less likely to thoroughly investigate a guest's privates, or "love" on someone's leg or anything else, for that matter. and, best of all, i enjoy shopping for ridiculously cute, frilly outfits to dress them up in. yet, oddly enough, i rarely actually put clothes on them, lol -- only for pictures, about five minutes on a holiday, or once in a blue moon while out on a walk...upon which, sure, i'll admit, i enjoy the attention we'll get from passersby of both genders and all ages. the majority stop us to chat and get a better look, and either have a good laugh or comment on how adorable my "baby girl" is. speaking of which, to be completely honest, girl dogs have helped fulfill my maternal desire for a daughter. don't get me wrong -- i thoroughly enjoyed raising my wonderful son. yet, he was never too keen on wearing dresses or bonnets for some strange reason. yes, i also freely admit that i'm totally nuts, lol...then again, things could be much worse -- have you seen those women on tv who take dolls out in public and pretend that they're real?? now THAT'S what i call crazy.
