| Do you restrain your Yorkie in the car? Today I was driving to the store and noticed the driver in front of me, a middle-aged woman with a Yorkie. She had her driver's side window down and the Yorkie was bopping back and forth in her lap, mostly leaning over the car door through the open window as many dogs would do. All I could think of was that woman needing to slam on her breaks and than Yorkie flying out into traffic, or some such other terrible fate. Do you restrain your Yorkies when in the car?

| ... we have struggled with this because our Gracie wants to sit in front with us, but I am worried about the air bags in the front seat so she is harnessed in with a seat belt strap in the back seat. I can't wait to see what other people do! |

| I used to be whatever about it- sometimes she would be in her crate- sometimes not. but after we nearly got into a horrible accident- and Layla was in her crate when I had to slam on the brakes- she is now in her crate which is strapped in with the car seat belt. I keep telling myself- If we ever get into an accident and something happened to us- the paramedics are goign to worry about me. and not lay, so i make it my job to make sure she is as safe as possible |

| I actually have Chloe' in a harness, strapped in her carseat. Myah, is in her crate, buckled with the seatbelt. Chloe' gets carsick, so being up high helps. Myah does great in her crate, so that is where she gets to be. We travel a lot up to Canada and it is a 12 hour trip and both are always buckled up so I don't have to worry about them. |

| Car Seats Are a Must! A definite must have for really any pet. We got a dog car seat from an online store called DOG CAR SEATS. They specialize in only car seats for pets. I have read that there are over 100,000 pets involved in accidents per year. I would never take our little 'Missy' out without having her in that seat and she actually loves riding in it. We got one of the Snoozer's, can't remember the model, but I use it all the time. |

| Snickers and Baxter are each strapped into their Lookout car seats in the back seat. Since the seats are high, they can both look out the windows and I can concentrate on driving and not worry about them getting into trouble.

| To be honest I never knew there were dog car seats till not to long ago. I just see dogs in cars...I have never seen a dog in a car seat or lookout type seat. I looked at the ones that sit high and the dog is strapped into it , but for now they are just in our laps. I do sometimes have Chloe in a sling carrier so she is kinda strapped to me. I never really honestly thought about it.

| Lil' Miss Izzie is in her car seat where she can see out the window in the front seat and the car seat has a harness attachment so she can't jump out. If I have someone else in the car she get to sit in the back seat and I have one of those harness clips that hooks into the seatbelt so that keeps her in place..she isn't particularly fond of being in the back seat, she would rather be up front like the big folks...

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | Yes my kiddos have a carseat that they both ride in together. The carseat is strapped in with a seatbelt and they are strapped in to the careseat with a harness.

| I voted Other.... I live in a super small town and when I am just going around town, Sam is not restrained. I allow him to hang his head out while I have my hand wrapped in his halter.... this is only when we are going about 10miles per hour. When we go out of town (sherman, plano, dallas, mckinney, etc) Sam sits in the back in his car seat with Nana. If its just me and Sam then I allow him to sit in his carseat in the front since I can turn the air bag off.

| Legislation... ...has been passed in some states that requires a dog to be restrained or the driver may be fined, like seatbelt requirements for humans. Our furbaby has a car seat held in place by strapping to the seatbelt and also buckles into his harness. He can stand and look out and or sit and still see out. I'm not a fan of opening the window...can cause eye problems. When he was very young, he was scared and pooped in it most every time so I crated him in the car but now he loves going for a ride.

| Finnigan stays in his crate seatbelted in my passanger seat with the airbag off. I just don't think I could get him to sit in a carseat. Though it wouldn't be horrible with a halter clip something to strap him in it.
