| How important is registration to you? This question has been on my mind lately due to my own babies. One is AKC registered, but the other can't be although I will be obtaining an AKC ILP for him. The registration will play a role if we want to compete in certain classes. But first and foremost, my little guys are my pets. People tend to place a lot of importance on papers, and I was just wondering how everyone here felt about it. |

| Registration matters to me ONLY because I intend on showing Bailey. If I got him with no intentions on showing, papers wouldn't be necessary |

| Papers aren't important to me. I have my furbabies as companions, but if I bred them or showed them, then I would want them registered.

| Registration wasnt even something I considered when I was looking for a dog. All that I required it to be was a Yorkie and a female! And Bella is both and just perfect for me.

| Both of my boys are AKC regeistered, but actually it doesn't mean anything to me because I am not breeding or showing them. I would love them just the same if they were not registered AKC. |

| I can't say I'd NEVER have an unregistered dog...but I bet my husband would throw a fit if I ever wanted one. He's a big "papers snob" as I call him, lol. Looking for an AKC registered yorkie helped narrow our search, and also give us hope that we were getting a true purebred that was breed standard, and comes from the like. Now that we have a registered dog, I doubt we will ever own one that's not. But we're getting a little girl! In about 9mo. after we're settled in after our upcoming move! My hubby and I are very excited!!! Now with all that I've learned here on YT, I'm going to really be picky about my next puppy! Not that Sully isn't great b/c he is

| Riley isn't registered and TJ is. Registration doesn't really matter to me. I almost didnt register TJ even though I had the papers. I decided to register him though because I am paying for a package to get his pedigree. I wanted to see who his grandparents were, etc. It sounded cool. Registration isn't important to me at all. I would take an unregistered or a registered dog in a heartbeat. I love my dogs for who they are, not whether they have papers or not. |

| They would only be important for breeding or showing. Otherwise, it is a waste of money as a pet owner. |

| I prefer a dog with AKC papers, but I doesn't much matter to me. There are a lot of reasons I would want an AKC dog. Valerie highlighted one of them which is knowing that they are from Yorkie parents. Stephanie has a good point about being interested in the pedigrees as it is just fun to see.

| When I first got Nala I was going to get her registered but then I decided it wasn't that important since she was only a pet and was going to be spayed. |

| When looking for a puppy, I personally think it's important that the parents are registered. If you aren't breeding or showing than really what's the point? What do you do with the papers once you get them?
