Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | How much do you spend on your Yorkies? I was quite delighted today when I opened the mail and saw that I got a $35 gift certificate to my pet supply store. Then I read the accompanying letter. It said once you spend a minimum of $300 in six months, they give you a 10 percent discount via gift certificate. In other words, I've spent $350 on Eddie and Jack at this one store in the last six months. Granted, this is where I buy all their food, all their toys, and, let me see, their toothpaste. But $350 in six months? Sheesh. Do I have spoiled Yorkies or what? To see if I need intervention, I'm doing this poll. Answer truthfully. It's anonymous.

| Nope, I don't think you need Spoiled Yorkie Anon......... yet!! LOL! I totalled it up and some months are more that others, but it averages about $100.00 a month ( for TWO ). I do feed premium food (as most of us do) which costs a bit more... and of course a few purchases for clothing items... and YES, my Yorkies wear clothes out!!!.... There nighties and pj's see the most use!! There are treats, toys, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, pee pads.......... Of course there are the vet bills!!!........ and luckily mine haven't been too bad, but I know there are times that they can add up. My motto...... if you got them..... you need to take good care of them!! (and I think spoiling them is my "fun way" of caring for them)..... and I am blessed that I can have them AND spoil them, too!!!!

| Well...thanks for making me think about this Let's see. Food $23 a bag, 6 bags in 6 months = 138.00 Goodies, $7 per box, 6 boxes in 6 months = 42.00 Gee, I'm almost up to $200 and haven't even counted harnesses, toys, meds, grooming, vet visits, flea control, new beds, blankets... Ack...no wonder I need more $$$$

Donating YT 500 Club Member | If you buy a premium food or ingredients for home prepared food, a few treats and like me a few articles of clothing in six months, it's easily over $200 every six months. Sometimes depending on what's going on, it's over $200 in a couple of months

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Wow - I had to check over $200. It's funny - cause when you "only" spend $10 a week you think it's nothing (like if I buy something for Izzy on YT or stop at the doggie bakery, or Petsmart, etc.) you really think that you are spending very little. But when you just add that up....10x24 weeks that alone comes to $240. That does not include her holistic everyday food, vet, doggie training classes, etc. Then there are the 1x purchases like when you first get a puppy like crate, beds, blankets, carry bags, stroller, steps, etc. That's OK - she is my "kid" as my only skinkid is out of the house. Oh wow - I forgot the groomer costs per month too at $35...yikes! But all worth it for all the tons of kisses and love I get in return.

| I spend about $400 dollars a month total on my 2 cats, golden retriever, yorkie, and frog. That is if they are all healthy i.e. not vet appt. for ear infections (golden) or at a dead animal which they may have killed (cats or yorkie).

| Hmmm, well my friends all think Tink is spoiled with all her clothes and toys. I told them they should see the pics of some of the furbabies closets on here. She has to eat people food now 'cause of her tum. With her Legg Perthes disease and surgury, the histoplasmosis, two ear infections, another GI infection and normal vet bills, we have eaten up my savings account and maxed out one small credit card. How much? I can't tell you cause if my daughter sees the amount she'll faint. Let's just say I could have bought a herd of Yorkies for the amount I've spent on her this year. I'm always telling her, "You better give me lots of Yorkie loving, cause I paid dearly for you." |

| I want to know how anybody can spend less than $50.00 in 6 months??? Come on, 3 people voted this way...Anyway, I voted $200.00 and above...let's just say...way above. And really Winston doesn't wear clothes or get too many treats, but food alone is well over $200.00.

| I voted $151-$200 but that is only for food. We will be spending somewhere between $325 and $500 a year on homemade food for Ellie every year now. We will just say $400. Toothpaste: $7.10 every 2 months or so, so that is $42.50 a year. OraVet tooth homecare is about $25 every 16 weeks, so $81.25 a year. She doesn't have too many clothes and we don't have tons of toys so we will say $50 a year. Vet Bills: This year so far we have spent over $2000. This would be lots lots lots less in a normal year. I'm sure I'm forgetting something here. The total on this for this year is $2573.75, so $1286.88 for six months.

| I was pretty relieved to see that I was in good company in the over $200 category. What fun would it be to have Yorkies if you didn't spoil them rotten!
