YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Bread Machines? What do you gals think? Worth it? And I was wondering if it is actually cheaper to make your own bread?

| I love my bread maker....I had to promise myself I would only make fresh bread twice a month, because I went NUTS and was eating LOAVES of fresh baked bread, gaining about 10 lbs every 3 weeks!! It makes your home smell OUTRAGEOUSLY SUMPTIOUS!!!! This is a real treat all during the winter months!! Cold and rainy outside, warm and home baked bread inside!!! As far as being more economical, I have no idea..... |

| I adore my bread machine. There are so many recipes and a bread machine makes these virtually fail proof. Bread can be very temperamental eg bread will not rise due to humidity outside, pan over oiling or not oiled enough, yeast not rising, bread sticking, not cooking on the inside.. etc I have not had any issues with any of this with my bread machine. I recommend getting one! |

| I'm like Judy but am such a fresh-bread addict I'm too afraid I would eat nothing but a fresh loaf of homemade bread each meal! Mmmmmm. The smell of bread baking in the kitchen has always sent me to heaven. I used to bake bread at home all of the time but finally just got tired of all the work and kneading and rising and on and on. But then came bread machines and I wanted one ASAP. Then I thought about what it would be like to have such an easy way to have fresh-bread all the time and wondered if that would be a smart or healthy thing for me. Finally, I decided I just cannot have one - I guess like an alcohol addict who couldn't quite manage to have a distillery machine in the back yard to use only occasionally to make a pint. I'm too afraid I would live only on freshly-baked, heavenly smelling and tasting homemade bread for the rest of my life. But if you are not a fresh-bread addict, I'd get one. They are ease itself compared to the time and work in homemade bread baking the old-fashioned way.

| Everyone I know who has ever gotten one had to throw it out because it was so amazing and they gained so much weight. I'm 6'2" 185 lbs, but I know I'd be 285 lb with a breadmaker. Then again, maybe I'm just projecting, as I'm the type of person who if I buy 5 bags of candy at the store I eat them within an hour (strangely enough as much as I love beer, no matter how much of it I have in the fridge, I drink 2 or 3 bottles a week max lol).

I found that if we slice it and weigh out the slices we could manage our waistlines but I think it would have been so easy to tear out hunks of fresh bread and butter it and not worry about the consequences until later had we not done the above! You can make wholewheat and oat bread and all sorts of breads other than standard white and those types of breads are really good for you. And, if you're like me and hate beating bread for rolls, they do a good job of mixing and rising the dough for you so all you then have to do is transfer dough to the oven if rolls are your thing.... They are nice to have around! | |

| I had a bread maker long ago but apparently I gave it away. So a new bread maker is on my "I Want" list. I am saving up for a Zojirushi bb-hac10 Home Bakery Mini Breadmaker. This model takes up 8 1/2" x 11", bakes a one pound loaf, and is has a high approval rating by owners. |

| Love my bread machine! Nothing like tasting homemade hot bread and you can control what goes in it! Especially love it with my chili but if I'm not watched I can eat that loaf all by myself lol

| I've never made homemade bread, but i think I'd really enjoy a breadmaker. I rate local restaurants by the bread and breadsticks they have, rather than the food they serve. Many times i just gorge on the bread and eat the soup starter, and take the main entree home. Living alone, I like the idea of the breadmaker that makes small loaves.
