| Homemade Saurkraut? Anyone ever make it? My mom used to make it all of the time. It was simply cabbage salt and spices left to sit for months in a dark place. I have a head of cabbage in the fridge...... Looking for tips!!!

| My mom makes it almost every year, especially if my brother has lots of cabbage in his garden. IDK how true it is but my grandma taught her how to make it and she is very old school and does things by the lunar signs and old wives tales..never make cabbage when you are menstrating..it won't ferment right and will turn black. Honest to Pete mom did kraut one year and ignored Mamaw's rule..it was black as tar and not edible.

After tasting your mom's pimento cheese that she said she totally messed up - I would trust any recipe from her! Ask her how she does it if you don't mind. I'm gonna have to get that soup recipe from you again too. The Italian bean or whatever it was !!
