| Thanksgiving Do any of you make a different main dish instead of turkey or ham? If you do, I would love to hear what you make!

| I know. I think it's that way for most people. Haha. The turkey not the pasta.

| You reminded me of our good family friends, an Italian family, and the mother decided one year to cook only traditional Thanksgiving food. Her son Anthony looked at the table and said in his Chicago/Italian accent, "Hey Ma, where are the clams?" It's now a Thanksgiving tradition for us after prayers to say this before eating.

I don't know if we are having Thanksgiving Chinese lunch this year, so I might be cooking for me, bf, BIL, and MIL (hopefully she will eat something!) I'm gonna make baby back ribs (cheating style, steaming in the oven but come out so tender), mashed potatoes, and hopefully get a few lobsters and crabs. I love me some crustacean brains

Rhonda, the only semi-unusual thing we have ever done is cooked a pheasant inside of the turkey. A hunter friend gave us a few pheasant that year. I'm usually not into gamey meat, but I thought it was delicious.

| Yes, inside. It's a little bird stuffed inside the big bird. I assume that means putting a duck inside the turkey. I don't think I have ever tried duck.

I love duck. It's a chinese staple. Peking duck, oh yum, what a treat! I had some duck today, but Thai style, and am having the leftovers in some leftover pho broth. But as far as Babygirl Rosie's quesion, what's the purpose? You got me there. I've never done it before. I guess the purpose is, BECAUSE WE CAN.

It's all boneless and therefore very easy to carve....it's a pheasant inside a chicken inside a goose. It sounds revolting and cruel and a bit dodgy but actually it's delicious I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving (you lucky people! ) Sally x Last edited by Harrysmum; 11-18-2012 at 03:06 AM. | |
