| What's a good wine? I'm not a wine drinker so I know nothing about wine...I've tasted a few but that's about it. I've heard wine can have some health benefits so I thought maybe I'd try a glass every now and then. Can anyone recommend a good one? |

| I would like to know what is a good wine that I could get. I have not tasted any alcohol drinks that I like the taste of. I have liked apricot brandy some. Any suggestions for me too? What is a good wine for someone who would like some on special occasions but knows nothing about wine. Did not mean to hijack thread. Thought maybe someone could answer us both in one reply.

| You have come to the right place. Step into my office ladies and allow me to explain the wines: My favorite personally is a Moscato (the moscato grape it's made from) it is a white sparkling wine that I personally use with chocolates and fine desserts or soft cheeses like a Bri cheese. Riesling is another blush/white wine. very smooth a little less sweet but defin. not dry. Dry white wines are chardoneys and other forms If you like sweet drinks I love the sweet reds from the Concord grape. Sweet Reds taste just like grape juice. very good for the heart! other dry reds are merlot, pino noir, savignon. smoother but not too sweet or semi-sweet is a zinfandel (blush wine =pink) try this link it might help some: WineandWines : Everything about wine - Classification of Wine - |

| heh heh, maybe you should ask sugarmamma, or maybe she is already passed out. I prefer rum. Seriously though, I really like port, it's super sweet. So is shiraz. I think any red wine is good for your heart. Not sure if white wine has the same benefits.

| My favorite brand names are: Sutter House White Zinfandel, Yellowtail (any variety), and i try a lot of my local winery bottles at the grocery store. if you like a dry stick to that in reds and whites, if you like a semi-dry or semi-sweet stay with those, if you like sweets go with the sparklings whites like Asti-spumante or Moscatos\ the best bet. go to tastings and figure out what you like and buy cheap types until you know what you like. once you find a variety of grape you like THEN go for the more expensive brands and try new things. Wine is all about getting a new bottle each time and having a very different experience. i've had elderberry, rhubarb, blackberry, muscadine, blueberry and others. all were ok, some great, some strange. | Wow...I left the room to get ice cream and came back to a page full of knowledge...thank you! I like sweet but not icky sweet...I tasted a dry white wine years ago and I wasn't crazy about it but I can see how it would go well with a chocolatey desert. I've heard of Yellowtail and we do have some local wineries so maybe that will give me something to do. I would just like to have a small glass in the evening or with dinner. When we go to Florida it seems like everyone has wine with their meal but we have tea or pop. We rarely have a beer and we gave up the hard stuff long ago...we realized the bartender was driving a better car than us so it was time to quit See, I know nothing about wine...buuut...ask me about ice cream |

| I was never a fan of red wine until last year, when a saleslady came into the office and she and another co-worker started talking about wines...when I told her my experience, she asked me do you take the time to swish around your first sip to get a feel for the flavors...uh...no..she also advised to be sure to allow the wine to breath before drinking it also the right temp is also a factor....well, after trying it correctly, I do enjoy red wines now...guess anything worth doing is worth doing correctly... |

| When I was with my first husband my favorite wine was I have a headache oh wait wine....not whine.... hmm I used to do pretty good on Boone's Farm, but as I've gotten older, I actually like German Rieslings. I don't like dry. Most reds, not so much. I'd make a lousy Italian, although I kill for pasta! It is the skins that they leave in to give reds the color that cause headaches and hangovers. White wines cause less problems.

California and Australia tend to have fruitier wines than Europe. The best way to find a good wine is to start drinking! You can go to a wine store and ask for a rec.

| I only drink Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio for white. Ecco Domani is a less costly alternative and isn't bad. For reds, I love Cote du rhone (french dry) or Sicilian red table wine That's about as far as I go with wine. Otherwise, it's tequila.

| Red is better for you in the long run, but in the short term I'll pass on the headaches and stick to white. The tannins give you the headaches. Or at least me. They say you should drink one glass of red wine per day, that is healthier than being a teetotaler.
