| Eagle stalking my yorkies! Warning for all yorkie owners...and owners of all small dogs: We went down to Alki Beach, on the "rocky" side near Mee-Kwa-Mooks (sp?) park, with my two yorkies and notices an eagle circling above us. I first thought "hmmm, that's odd that the eagle keeps hanging around..." Then it finally dawned on me, duh!, the eagle's target is Jac and Beanie! Beanie always sitck close to me but Jac was running around everywhere! Jac is my "big dog" at 6 lbs but is still small enough for an eagle to swoop down and have a snack! I put his leash on, dried him off, and got off the beach. Just so happens...the eagle went away too! The eagles population is making a real comeback in West Seattle and Washington state - which is a good thing! I think I've learned my lesson and will not let my babies run around on the beach unleashed anymore. Luckily this story had a happy ending! So if you happen to be in my neck-of-the-woods I recommend you walking your dog down along Alki (it's a really great place to take your dog!), just be careful! Oh, and don't let your dog run around on the "sandy side" of Alki beach...it's a $500. fine if you get caught!

| Wow, I'm glad you realized. We have Red Tail Hawks here and they are huge. They were circling my patio one day when the pups were out. |

| We have Red-Tail Hawks here too. I wanted to put up another fence so my babies could play outside, but I still wouldn't want them out without a leash. Too scary!

| Eagle Circling Yorkies That happened to me years ago at a friend's house in Glide, OR. My Pasha was quite small at the time. Rena suggested strongly I put his leash back on him as a hawk was circling above us. Being from the Midwest, Kentucky, I had never heard of this before. It was a good education! |

| Watch out for racoons, too! A racoon attacked my doggies, Lucy and Daisy, when I let them out one night. Luckily I got them inside before any harm was done, although they wanted to stay and fight with the racoon. Racoons are vicious! The State Wildlife folks said to carry a spray bottle with white vinegar and squirt the racoon in the face, also a broom to fend it off. I look silly but what else is new? |

| Eagles and Hawks I have been warned by some friends that hike with their yorkie. They said eagles and hawks will try to swoop down and take a yorkie if the get the chance. They keep their little girl in between them as they hike. That would be horrible to have our little sweeties attacked like that! Good thing to post on here! Thanks

| I'm glad everything was o.k. We have a Bald Eagle in our neighborhood too but I've never seen him watching my boys. I saw him a few months ago in our front yard and posted pictures of him on YT. We have an Eagle, huuuge owl, cyotes, fox, hawks, raccoons and who knows what else around the lake. Oh, deer but I think they're pretty harmelss! When my boys go outside I do too...you just can't be too careful. |
