| Charlie tested positive for heartworms The vet seems to think that we can control them.....so I hope we can. We go back injections in two weeks. I dont know a whole lot about them but I know they can be deadly. Ive started reading some but it saddens me to think of the dark side.

He doesnt act sick. Now he has been grumpier than usual but I just blamed it on the weather. Its been raining a lot here and that messes up his routine -he cant go out, roam around and play with all the rain that we have had. Now I wish I had taken him earlier when I thought something was wrong but just thought it was that. I took all 3 to vet to get a bortella shot. They are all going to daycare tomorrow.

| Poor thing. Don't take this the wrong way.. but why wasn't he on a preventative other than the type of pill that made him sick? It's a horrible thing for a dog to have to go through. My mom has a dog who has heartworms (she rescued him, and he had them when she got him) and he is on so many medications. Sometimes he even randomly passes out.

| How terrible to hear your baby has heartworms. I do hope the cure doesn't do him further harm. It's really rough on them. Let us know how he does. |

| I have fostered dogs from the Humane Society who were undergoing treatment for heartworms. Yes, it's not good and the injections can be painful for the dog and you have to limit their activity, but with good care, they can be fine! The ones I fostered did great! I hope yours makes complete recovery. |

| just so you know, if you give heartworm medicine to a dog that already has them, the dog will die. could be the reason they made him sick is because he was already getting them. |

| Poor Charlie! My poodle got sick on his heartworm meds too so the vet switched him to a different kind. I'm so sorry Charlie has to deal with this and you too! I'll send up a prayer for him that it won't be too tough. Tink sends him kisses 'cause she says they heal lots of things. |
