I brought the two miniature black mares in the barn and I am officially on Foal Watch until their babies come. Lucy's actual due date is April 1st and Mae's is April 13th, however, at this point they could safely come at any time.

I will be spending a couple of hours each evening with the "girls" --watching for changes in their behavior that signal that the foals are on their way down the birthing path..... hippity hopping all along the way.... wait a minute, right season, wrong song

This is pobably my favorite few weeks of the year -- I will take a big cup of hot coffee, a book and a blanket and sit with them read a page or two and pet a nose and watch the little one's bounce and jiggle thier mommma's belly. I will try to get some "belly" pics tonight and post them when I come back up.

Aww they are soo cute!!! I can't wait to see more pics!! you have to take baby pics to when they come!! It would be funy if the babies came on April 1st you could call one Joker's wild lol

How exciting. They are so cute. I was on Alpaca watch 4 times with my sisters Alpaca's. It was so amazing.

ooo how exciting!!!! Can i come live with you guys? seems like you have lots of fun. i love horses. i used to ride when i was in elementary school but it became too expensive for my parents. i'm so jealous of hte people that actually own horses.

Great luck with your minis. i can't imagine seeing those tiny ones when they are born. I am so jelous of you. I have also a passion for horses and would love to learn more about equines and work with them but it just doesn't seem like it is going to happen.

I loved watching my mare become a mom for the first time..

. I took pictures the minute he arrived, his first steps, his first sunrise... You know, its going to be in the middle of the night...Oh those sleepless nights, I remember them well..

LOL, you might be watching a long time. Almost two years ago, my sister and her mare were both pregnant at the same time. The horse was due about a month before she was, but they gave birth within about a week of each other. I kept telling her that horse was waiting for her to go first. I guess horses can "hold it" until they want to do it
