| Anyone w/ a Pom?? We found the cutest little black pom female (still hunting for that little black poodle).......anyway, I have heard that they can be pretty sickly dogs - I know that like any other dog, alot has to do w/ the genes, background, etc. But overall, I have been told that sometimes they need extra care......if you have a pom or know someone that does.......could you please share any experiences you have had - good and bad! Thanks!

| I heard they were more territorial and yappy than even yorkies. But they sure are beautiful dogs though. |

| I owned a pom, but only for a few days unfortuanlty, but a great place to look for one is www.allstarpoms.net . The woman who owns it is so sweet and breeds gorgeous show quality and exotic colored poms at a good price. Check out her gallery pages to see past pups! My next dog after I get my yorkie puppy will be from her.Hope this helps

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maya is my soon to be 10 year old pom. I personally would never get another one for several reasons. My true love is Yorkies, had 3 before Maya. Maya is snappy has bitten me several times hard when I was trying to get something from under my bed. she stays under there most of the time and considers it her territory. Bites me if I try to clean her eyes or give meds. She barks all the time for no reason and is very territorial. I just have learned to be very careful with her. I could never give her up so that's why I have lived with her this way. I socialized her properly she went to obedience school. does listen well just is a very yappy and snappy dog.She does not shed much at all. Overall my experience with health is she has been healthier than any of my Yorkies. I did get her from a petstore so that may account for her bad temperment because I am sure many people have had sweet ones. I do love the look and her coat is very low maintenance. This is just my experience. Also she is much larger than standard 11 lbs.

| I also had a Pom before and he was a great pet. He was smart and sweet and overall alot of fun to have around. He did however, have Hypoglycemia, so I had to put a spoonfull of sugar in his water everyday.

| I had a black pom/schipperke mix that I rescued from the pound. Teddy was very healthy, just had bad manners...lol...He was very attached to me, followed me everywhere. He also liked to run away if you didn't have him on a leash. He also liked to beg...it is hard when you get an older rescue you don't know what their life was like before. He was also not neutred when I rescued him and afterwards still he marked everywhere..I wish I had known about belly bands then. He was very sweet, very protective and very pretty. Also stubborn. I had to put him down when he was 8 or 9 years old, he started nipping and having seizures. We had him for 5 years. I still really miss him, he had a funny personality. He didn't shed, easy coat to brush out.

| I have a pom, Rocco, we got him February of last year for Valentines Day. Wow we have had him almost a year. He is absolutely the best dog, loves everybody, especially Lily our yorkie. I think it has to do with breeder, where it comes from, etc. just as any dog. He sheds a lot, and barks at a lot, although i am getting him broken of that. If all poms are like him, which I am sure they are not, I would highly recommend them. He is full of energy most of the time, but that is ok, he keeps Lily busy playing.
