| Pomeranian Puppy? I've been considering getting another dog, a female Yorkie, but I also came across Pomeranian's and I don't know much about the breed. What does everyone think of the breed compared to Yorkies? I know they shed a lot.. they're so fluffy and furry!! Is the shedding to the point where all your clothes are covered in fur? I also have pretty bad allergies, Yorkie's don't really shed so I haven't had a problem with Biggie. I have a friend who has a friend that is having Pomeranian pups soon... soooo POM or YORKIE? Any thoughts? Anything I should know about the breed before I look more into them?

| I've never had a Pom but our ex-preacher's wife had one and she thought the world of that dog. She died a year or so ago but she was like their child even though they had 3 boys and grandchildren. I never noticed the shedding when at their house but don't really know. |

| I have a pom, Rocco he will be one in December. We just love him to death, he is a luv bug. He is our first pom. When I researched them, everything said they shed twice a year, well he started shedding at the end of August and hasn't stopped. That doesn't bother me, I have always been a daily sweeper and keep my house very clean, so I just clean up the fur daily. You will have to sweep daily if you don't want any traces of fur around the house. His personality is wonderful, he loves everybody. He is very loyal and is at my side all day long( I don't work). He is a very good guard dog, he barks at all noises outside and anything he sees outside, although if we had an intruder he would just lick them to death. If you don't like the barking I wouldn't suggest a pom, they are very vocal. I am sure I could break him of the barking he is easily trained, but I haven't tried very hard because it doesn't bother us. I would say poms are full of energy, he loves to play and run(especially with our yorkie Lily) but when he is pooped out he drops like a fly. I am so glad we have him, I always wanted a pom because I love their beautiful fur. He has turned out to be my 2 boys and husbands favorite out of our 3 dogs. I am sure it depends on the breeder and how you socialize them because I was always told poms can be nippy, but Rocco wouldn't hurt anything. If you have any other questions I'll be glad to try and answer what I can, as I am a pretty new pom owner myself.

| I think the massive shedding is the only downfall. They are adorable and have great personalities. My aunt has poms and they are sweet babies!!!

| I really love their looks, but I heard they were hard to groom with all that undercoat...is that true?

| I don't find it hard to groom Rocco. It does take a while to get him dry with the blowdryer and you really have to scrub to get all of that fur lathered up. I try to brush him at least every other day and he gets a bath at least once a month if not more.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | May a is my 9 1/2 year old Pom. She has many issues and based on my experience with her Iwould never get another one. She is beautiful, I have her groomed every six weeks and she doesn't need to be brushed or anything in between, besides she bites me when I try and groom her. She does shed but not terribly. She is aggresive and has bitten me several times, barks for no reason and does not like to be held or cuddled. Very teritorial. I have always had Yorkies before my husband got her and couldn't stand not having one so I got Cali last year. IMO Yorkies are easier. I love my Pom but would never get another one. So if you get one just make sure you know the breeding becauseif you can get a good one I think they are one of the prettiest breeds out there.
