Default Just got back from the vet

with Maya, my Pom and Cali. Cali just had a minor skin infection on her nose. Maya went in for her DHLLP shot and ended up not getting it. They think she may have Cushungs or hypothyroidism. They did blood work and I will know tomorrow. They also did a Xray because they heard a heart murmur and her heart is enlarged and her trachea is collapsed but not severely in her throacic area. Wow I was pretty overwhelmed with all this bad news. Please keep her in your prayers.

Hi Patti,
I am sorry to hear your little Pom is not doing well. Just wanted to give you a link to people with knowledge about Cushings Disease, and to tell you that the diagnosis is quite a bit more involved than simple bloodwork. It is not always easy to diagnos and can be misdiagnosed as well. Hopefully she does not have it but it is treatable. Here is the link and sending healing thoughts for your baby

It is my usual vet and Maya has been having a lot of skin issues and some hair loss, not that you can notice with all her hair, drinking more and going out more and panting more. Two vets checked out her heart and decided an Xray was needed. He showed me the Xray and said the heart usually covers 3 ribs but in her case it was covering 5 and the trachea was pushed up from the heart being enlarged. He said that they we will decide what to do once we get the blood work back. He did mention an echocardiogram as the next step for her heart diagnosis. He did not want to give her her shots until he sees what's going on with her. I swear I have not gone 1 month without a trip to the vets for one or the other in the past year!!!! And I am thinking of a 3rd!!! I must be crazy!!!lol
Thanks Aprillove for the link!!!

Sorry to hear the bad report but glad to hear the vet is investigating and hopefully with the right diagnostics and treatment, Maya will regain her health. Praying for you all!

Default Update On Maya

Maya's thyroid test came back as being very low so I had to take her in again today for a more comprhensive thyroid test that will take 10 -14 days for results. The vet said her test result was very low. Something about -8 being low and hers was not even -4. So hopefully we can get her diagnosed and on the right medicine so she will feel better soon.
