| hip troubles?? Luke (our big black lab), just went to the vet because he has been limping and whining alot. We rescued him from a life in a cage (he was almost 3 when we got him). Course, now he is free to romp and run and be in a big comfy house. The vet said she thought he was too young for having hip problems, but couldn't do xrays that day because he had already eaten (our appt. was later in the afternoon). So, she gave him some anti-inflammatories to try for one week and then if the pain comes back, we go back and have xrays. He has already seemed to feel alot better after only one pill. Plus, he is on joint supplements too. He also went from 99.8lbs to 88lbs. The vet said this could be from actually being out and running instead of confined to a small space. - he eats like a hog! Anyway, I am just alittle worried about if it is hip problems. I know big dogs are prone to that and he got off to a rough start in life too. The vet said that there are several options w/ hip problems, but I was wondering if anyone had dealt with this before and what they had done, are doing or what you would recommend. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.......I just hope it is nothing serious........oh, it is just one leg that seems to bother him....has been acting up for about a month. Thanks for any advice!

| A girlfriend of mine had a black lab with the same problem and her vet put her dog on glucosimine, she saw an immediate difference. This was a few years ago, he has since died due to his age (13). Good luck |

Luke seems so happy and hyper just after the two days of being on the new supplements and the anti-inflamatory pills. I hope he will be okay......

| Just posting an update on Luke..... He has been on is anti-inflammatories for a few days now and it is has if he never had a problem. --I just hope that continues after he is off of them. He is romping and runny and very happy again! We are just soooo excited. I think his new joint (glucosimine) pills are wonderful too. These are $40 at the vet for a bottle of 120 pills (takes 2x daily)....I think they were working better then the $20 bottle of 60 pills we bought at PetsMart. He will stay on the pills from the vet from now on....although, this $40 bottle is the "phase 1" and the "phase 2" bottle is cheaper and he will only day those once a day! Yay! I am just so happy that he is feeling better! The vet said that after the 7 days on his anti-inflammatories to watch him and see if he shows sign of pain coming back into his leg.....if that happens, it is time for xrays and we will go from there......Wish us luck!!!!

| Thanks! My vet asked me to look at his food to make sure it had this in there and I also told her he was taking joint supplements that had glucosimine in it. Do you know if there was a certain pill your friend had? I just read this. I am waiting for an answer from her. Carol |

| Thanks....I didn't know if the vet gave her a certain pill or if she bought a supplement....just curious! I want to make sure Luke feels good from now on and doesn't have to go through pain like he did earlier!
