| Gucci's Brothers and Sister Go Camping With Dad Gucci is our yorkie but he stays at home with his Mama now for our camping trips. Zippy is likely part yorkie, Rambo is an AKC papered pom and Ezzy is likely part lhasa apso. Earlier this week we took a drive to the woods to check reports of early season chanterelle mushrooms popping up due to a bit of an odd weather pattern in Western OR and WA. My favorite chanterelle spot is in WA, the West side of the Cascade mountain range. Luckily the location has a nearby river with ample camping sites. We spent a couple of days and nights here this trip. What's a camping trip without a fire? Fortunately forest conditions at the moment are good and fire restrictions are not in effect. Cooking over the fire was part of the adventure. 2016-06-28 010.jpg 2016-06-28 011.jpg 2016-06-28 012.jpg 2016-06-28 013.jpg |

| It looks like you and the pack are having a blast! I was describing your post to my DH. He was asking me about the different types of mushrooms and I told him I really didn't know. So what are chanterelle mushrooms and how do you cook with them?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanterelle Near any meal recipe can include chanterelles, omelettes, sandwiches, salads, pastas, meats.... My only recommendation is to at least cook them, a light saute' in butter, before adding to a dish that isn't going to be cooked as a whole. | Our campsite came complete with a boulder filled play area for the boys and girl. They spent a lot of time among the boulders while we were in camp, jumping up on the boulders like goats and also playing "tag" chasing each other through the maze. 2016-06-28 021.jpg 2016-06-28 022.jpg 2016-06-28 023.jpg 2016-06-28 024.jpg |

Pictured above is this one or a species that is very similar: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotropa_hypopitys We didn't find any chanterelles on this trip, not many mushrooms at all actually, but we did enjoy our time cruising the rugged slopes of this area of the Cascades. Making our way through with out a trail, crawling over and under crisscrossed downed trees, walking among the fern, moss, salal and even some devil's club, the gang and I had a satisfying time in the woods and in camp. |

I'm sure you have morels, most of the direct sales I did this year were to people with fond memories from when they lived back east and were younger. Those would be naturals of some sort, sometimes referred to as blonds, but many species of morels.... the morels I pick are fire morels, they pop up about a year after a major forest fire. Sometimes referred to as blacks... but also, many species are included in that also. Just weighed the pups. Gucci(yorkie that stays at home these days) 5.35 lbs. Ezzy(lhasa mix) 5 lbs, Rambo(pom) 7 lbs, Zippy(york mix) 15 lbs. | |

| Thank You! We pamper them as best we can at home and they love the adventures whether it's a walk in the park or in the mountains. Remember some of the scenes from Jurasic Park where you see the brush moving but don't know what is in the brush? Sometimes it's like that, LOL, sword fern moving, can't see the dogs. LOL |
