| Cushings disease Georgie's Boxer sister Coco may have Cushings disease She is 12 1/2 and we know that with age health issues come. She has all the symptoms for it. My husband and I adore her and are so sad. The vet said there is medications for it. We didn't go into the details as she wanted to run some blood work just to confirm. Has anyone had experience with it? I read it's most common in Boxers, Yorkies and a few other breeds. Thanks in advance!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Ann's boy, Wylie. was diagnosed with it, she has lots of information on it. As I recall, you are right, they seem to treat the symptoms rather than the disease.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry to hear about Coco. My pom had Cushing's. She was diagnosed at about 9 years of age and lived to be almost 13. It is best to have a vet or specialist who is very experienced with treating Cushing's. I will keep Coco in my prayers.

| Thank you everyone I have been researching and reading a lot about the disease. Once we hear back from the vet either today or Monday we will figure out our next course of action. My husband and I will do whatever is necessary to make sure Coco is comfortable and happy for the rest of her life. She has already exceeded the life span of a Boxer and up until now she was doing very well. She is the sweetest girl and we love her so much! I will keep you posted. Thanks again and have a nice weekend Patti-I am so glad your Pom lived for years after being diagnosed. That really makes me hopeful for Coco. Thank you

| Thank you she has done really well and we are just hopeful that she has a couple more years left. Whatever we have to do to make sure she is comfortable we will.

| Just an update....Coco goes tomorrow for some additional testing. Her blood work came back and the alkaline phosphatase level was high which is an indication of Cushings. We are optimistic and know with proper medication and care she will be ok I just want to thank you all again. YT is such an amazing place with wonderful and caring people

| They are checking that tomorrow too. The Vet did mention some of her blood work coming back normal but I will get more details tomorrow. She will be there all day. I don't worry about dropping her off like I do Georgie. She loves going to the Vet!

| She has always been happy to go to the Vet. When other dogs bark at her she looks at them like what's wrong with you? LOL. She's an amazing girl. My husband has been sleeping on the couch with her in the basement since it's cooler down there and she doesn't pant as much. She doesn't like sleeping alone so Daddy stays with her We are hopeful that the medication will make her comfortable and we can have a couple more years with her
