| Best match with yorkie I'm going to get a new furkid soon, but I can't decide on breed, sex, or even if I should adopt from a rescue/pound or buy from a breeder. Those of you with other furkids, which ones get along best with your yorkies? I have a 1 yr old male yorkie that is about 10lbs and very playful. Any suggestions on breed, age, or sex that would go great with a yorkie? I prefer non-shedding, but doesn't have to be. Thanks!

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | I have a 3 yr old Yorkie, a 13+ yr old English Cocker Spaniel, and a 6 month old Maltese. They all love and get along with each other. The English Cocker is very gentle with the smaller two babies. No one sheds since they have hair and not fur. I love all three of them dearly and my English Cocker has really slowed down and I know some day I won't have her, but I sure hope that's day far, far away.

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I think Maltese, Chihuahua In my opinion seem to be the most popular combinations with the yorkie Besides other yorkie's. |

| I've also thought about another yorkie, but just wanted to look at other breeds too. Maybe I can find another breed I could fall in love with as much as I love yorkies.

| I have a yorkie girl and a maltese boy. They get along great. And I think my maltese's laid back chilled personality balances the spunky yorkie personality pretty well. My maltese boy wants to be cuddles while my yorkie is busy "running the house" !

I'm a bit late but... (beyond the yorkie suggestion ) what about a miniature schnauzer? They're sturdy, but small enough that they'd mesh with your yorkie's size pretty well and their low/high maintenance groomers depending on how you handle them (high maintenance if you strip the coat, super easy maintenance if you clip them.) They're totally terriers, and every one I've met loved to play. I had one growing up because I had very bad asthma and allergies - they don't shed and don't have dander problems. | |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Yorkie and Schnauzer Do you think a male yorkie and a male schnauzer would work out together? I am thinking about getting a male schnauzer that someone has for sale right now. I was really wanting a female but this male sounds like a pretty good deal. Anyone have any thoughts on whether they would do ok together being two males. Thanks for any insights on this......
