| I have a friend in need This is not yorkie related at all. I'm needing some rescue help with a dog and 2 cats in NE Florida. A friend of mine is having issues with toxic drywall in her home and is having to vacate. Her family has had to get an apartment and can't take their pets with them. These babies need help immediately! Any ideas on who I can contact in that area?

| I don't know who you might contact but am bumping this again hoping someone can help. I've seen the news stories on the toxic drywall...what a nightmare to be in the middle of. Good luck to your friend, and bless you for trying to help.

Sad to say most rescues are full along with shelters so the future of these animals is not very good.

| I got these descriptions from her: Betsey's issues: she is skittish. Possibly abused before I got her. Took me 9 months to catch her, and then had to use a cage. Now she likes me and tolerates my mom. More skittish with men and children. Not a mean bone in her body though. She will kill herself getting away from you but has never once shown one sign of aggression. Gets along well with other dogs...she "tolerates" cats. She also jumps just about any fence known to man. I have a shock collar on her that works great. I would give that to anyone that takes her. Also, the anal gland popage. Its pretty gross. Because she is so skittish she pops it. She has been on heart worm preventative so we are good there. She is apprx 5 years old. Maybe a little less. Spook (black kitty): Really no issues with him, but if someone is wanting a lap kitty he is not it. He is loveable enough but only wants lovings occasionally. He likes to be outside so whoever had him would have to live somewhere where he could go outside. He is on the skinny side. I have wormed him and he eats well, so I think its just the way he is built. He is about a year old. He avoids kids but when my son does get a hold of him he is not aggresive. Spook #2 (that is what my son calls her) She is sweet, loveable, and a total lap kitty. Nothing bad bout her. I would approximate her age to be about 20 weeks.

| Yes, I feel that it's going to be very hard to place these pets. They are located in Interlachen, FL. If I lived closer I would take them for her in a heartbeat. The cats were strays that she has taken in. Betsey has had a rough beginning. The cats will probably be ok since her mom lives next door and can keep them fed. Betsey can't go live with her mom because her mom's dog does not get along with her and it just really upsets Betsey. I don't think she would do well at all in a shelter.

| I would contact Beagle rescue in the area...maybe they could help...I would tell her to get rid of the shock collar comment... I doubt she will have luck with the cats but she can see if their is a cat rescue in her area as well. Sad.

| I think the collar is one of those underground fence things. She is very honest about the pets and wants anybody that is interested in them to know everything about them. No unexpected surprises with their behavior.

| We contacted 3 beagle rescues. Only heard back from 1. They didn't want her because she was too big. However, we did find a great home for Betsey! The cats are going to stay with her mom so we don't have to worry about them.
