| English Cocker Spaniel? Just wondering if anyone has an English Cocker Spaniel and what you can tell me about them, good and bad? I have Piper (Yorkie), Tucker and Quincy (Springers). Piper's a diva/tomboy and my Springers are just the best. I'm not planning on getting another dog for a few years but I really like the looks of the English Cocker and am wondering what their personalities are like. TIA.

Luv my 7 Furkids Donating Member | I had two before I got my first Yorkie. One was liver & white springer spaniel, the other english springer spaniel black and white. They lived 17 & 18 yrs. They are smart, loving, and everything else that is good. I still miss them terribly. In fact that is one reason I chose yorkies, I didnt want the same breed, it would have been to heartbreaking for me. |

| I just love Cocker Spaniels I'm sorry I can't help you though as I've never had one! LOL I find it a little funny hearing you refer to them as "English Cocker Spaniels" I suppose a plain old Cocker is what we here refer to as an American Cocker Spaniel!!!

The Difference Between American and English Cockers We used to have an English Cocker, a working gun dog. They have a HUGE amount of energy and are pretty destructive if they get bored...

I have always liked the look of the American CS, since I a was little girl, they are so showy but I think I prefer our Cocker, with the big sad, droopy eyes and "hang dog " expression. The pups are sooo adorable! As always its best to do as much research as poss before making a decision! But just look-how cute are these

| I had an American Cocker for almost 11 years and unfortunately he died from a rare blood disease but any dog can have that. They are sweet, gentle dogs and make great pets. As with any dogs that have the long ears they are prone to ear infections.

Kiera, I agree and prefer the look of the English Cocker over the American. The English Cocker has the same look as my Springers only a little smaller. I love my Springers (and my Yorkie) but next time around I think I would like something in between for size and I really love the look of the English Cocker. I agree that they are rare too. I live in Nova Scotia and the closest breeder is in Quebec. There are more American Cockers is our area. Thanks again everyone!

| A friend of mine has two of them. They're quite different in personality, one is really playful whilst the other is a complete couch potato. It's odd to hear about them being rare over there as they're really popular here & there are lots of them around. xx Meggie |
