| maltese What do you think of them? I have always wanted one... I even put a deposit down on one before I got Izze.... now I'm in love with Yorkies...but my mom wants a maltese...and I don't know what to do! I mean, I wouldn't have gotten a yorkie because I was/am so in love with my poodles---but I didn't know what I was missing. I'm wondering if the same can be said about maltese? I love Izze's spunky personality... she is just like my Molly poodle...so stubborn and funny... I'd want another like her. So what do you think? Maltese are beautiful! My mom likes little white dogs.

| I think they are so pretty and considered getting one. I just dont know about the upkeep of the coat. Ive heard grooming is more difficult than a yorkie plus keeping that white coat clean.

| Do you know if the coloring is why they are harder to keep up? Or is the hair finer and more easily matted?

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Have you checked out maltesetalk.com? Speaking strictly on personality, the maltese I've met have been delightful, every bit as loving, filled with personality and energetic as Yorkies. I don't know about the coat, but I think it probably comes down to how much time you want to put into it. Yorkies can be high maintenance too.

| I have a maltese and a yorkie, and I just love both breeds! They are both extremely sweet, loving, playful, etc. Good luck trying to make a decision!!

| Most maltese(not all of them) have terrible tear staining. I had one a few years ago that I rehomed. I loved her, but, she had a very high pitched bark, and with my hubby having a home office, we couldn't have her yapping like she did all the time. She went to a wonderful home where the lady that has her treats her like a queen, even calls her queen Hannah..I also had to keep her hair short, as she matted really bad, but, they are def. a lap dog, and are sweet, also very needy.. |

| I had a Maltese for 16 years, now have a 2 year old Yorkie. The grooming is about the same.

| I have both a maltese and a yorkie.. Lucy my maltese is a barker and always has been.. her personality is more like a jack russel and we do have tear stain issues. Grooming is no different then my yorkie.. She doesnt matt any easier but I do brush them regularly.Other then the barking she is well behaved... Does not need to have a leash on yo go out in the yard with me, shes very smart.. I dont know if her personality is common for a Maltese or not.. But I love both breeds.. |

| Per my trainers suggestions, I trained Molly with "no bark" by using a squirt bottle with water. She did not like it and learned...

| Lucy is now 3 1/2 years old. Do you think she is to old to learn something new like this? I would be so willing to try it.. I love Lucy and wouldnt give her up for anything, but she can be very annoying.... |
