| Lucifer was run over...Lucas settling in ! Yes ....AS A LOT OF YOU KNOW....my all black "Lucifer" was run over on 12th August just before his first birthday and it broke my heart...I loved him to bits...the best cat I ever had...so loving....had to go and pick him off the road at 6am too(he and I had been sharing CORNFLAKES at 5.30am) - the ar*e-h*le who did it just left him there, and a girl who found him still warm came to the door to let me know...he had his address on his reflective collar...RIP Lucifer...will never forget you baby (below) Here are pics of Lucas at age 6 weeks....and last one now age 9 weeks...he is very sweet...part Turkish Van. I am dreading when he goes out...people say it won't happen twice....I pray not as I couldn't stand it. (I have another Sparky, all tabby who has lived here all his life and is 12 now and always been ok, he is the boss of the area too - and Alfie, black and white part Persian who is a cripple age 3 from the sspca who is indoors or garden only....their pics in next post) Lucifer RIP Lucas - new kitty |

| Hi Debra! Can you make him stay in? Tell him he is a 'stay in kitty' and don't let him argue with you!!

| Ahhh, So sorry about Lucifer. I lost my black cat, Lucy Belle, last summer--- she was 13. Quote:
He's 4 years old. He is the biggest hunter I have ever had. Everything he kills, he eats. Recently, a bunny, almost as big as he is. Took him 2 days, but he ate all of it.

| Awww! Lucas is sooo cute! So I have to know does he love water? I know Turkish Vans are supposed to, but with him being a cross has he inherited the breeds water fetish? Try putting a large shallow container of water on the floor and see what happens Oh and I'd love to see pics if he decides to go swimming Heres some images I found online

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I'm sorry for your loss & congrat's On your new one!! Truthfully if you want him to live you should keep him inside, There is not only cars to worry about but other animals, being poisoned, cruel people etc.. I dont think cats belong outside. My last cat died at 20 was healthy up to 19.(never steped a foot outside. Cat's can live to 25 outside cat's are usally lucky to like 7 Your one is extra lucky to live to 12. If you do let him out i hope you Neuter him & get him all of his shot's. |

To all those of you who said I shouldn't let him out.....I am in the highlands of Scotland, not the middle of New York, and it's cruel to keep hunting cats indoors all their lives...I had 2 Siamese I rehomed due to I couldn't let them out in case they were stolen and my house was way too small for them to just live indoors happily though one did for 3 years and the other 1 year, just the odd trip to the garden....so I gave them to someone with a huge house and integral garage and who had a quiet garden for nice days....and I got moggies to be able to let them be cats as cats should be....over here we don't de-claw and cats live to 30 outside(all mine come in when they want anyway...they don't "live" outdoors)....if you have a stupid cat you have a stupid cat....some are more clever and some daft as a brush...Lucifer was too loving and trusting and not enough wild in him to live - I didn't let him out until he was fully grown and neutered and micro-chipped....plus some person just mowed him down on a wide open road in daylight...no excuse...they were going way more than the speed limit. How is that my fault in any way ??? These things happen in life unfortunately. My 12 year old cat is not lucky...he is clever....he is half wild-cat and very big and knows what he is doing around cars...he only crosses when the green man flashes ! Poor Lucifer was getting clever, but still a bit kitty daft and I think someone was in a hurry for work and speeding and didn't care at all...he decided to go to the main road which at that time in the morning is quiet...one car every half hour...had he stayed by the house for his breakfast as he usually did he'd have been ok...we don't know what made him go there then...that was unusual...we think he fancied catching a mouse in the fields, who knows. That's life unfortunately...I'd rather he had 1 fun year than 20 sad ones ! All my cat-pals are saying the same....it was they who told me to get another...I wasn't going to at first....but it might never happen. I am 41, had cats all my life...of course they are neutered and vaccinated before going out...all my animals get the best as those of you who know me know fine. I would never blame anyone who had this happen to their cat....much as I hate it all...it was just meant. Debra

| I'm so sorry you lost your little Lucifer. I love kitties as much as doggies. I've lost many to speeding cars(when I loved in the rural area), the worst being my black kitty that my neighbor ran over right in front of me. It didn't kill him, it broke his back. I was in high school and was home alone. The only thing I could do was have another neighbor take him to the shelter where he was PTS. Your other kitties are beautiful and will, I'm sure, help you with your grieving. Sleep peacefully, Lucifer.

...It's all part of keeping a semi-wild animal...life and death is part of it, only the fittest survive, but at least they have had nature to have fun in....cats make good house pets, but they do love the thrill of outside and if you can give it to them, they should have it....just like lions and panthers and wildcats and linx....all cat-like species love to be out hunting...poooor birdies though...my 12 year old Sparky just hates Robins for some reason...he took one home yesterday again....poor bird...that is nature though...we have all gone too sanitised in this life. I have been known to save the odd bird and mouse off him though....even found a mum and babies under my fridge that he took in....ie. took in mum, she had babies, I found 'em and put em all in a box home and then into a stone dyke with food and bedding in the country up the road from my house ! Hello there Bellieboo....fab to see you too hee hee

| I'm not trying to argue, but how are domestic cats kept as pets "wild animals?" Unless you allow them to be that way. Again, I am sorry this happened. I don't think anyone was blaming you, so there is no need to be on the defensive. I certainly don't think that it was your fault and there was no reason for anyone to be going so fast that they couldn't adjust for a cat in the road. I really don't get that they didn't even stop. |
