Default I just spent two hours

Grooming our Golden Retriever! OMGosh, she has so much hair! Misty is 8 yrs old and weighs 85 lbs. I'm certain right now that half of that is her hair!

Poor baby was so matted, but I managed to get most of them out with out cutting them, but had to cut some of the hair on her pretty tail.

Misty lives outside. She has no desire to be in the house, believe me, I've tried.

She is such a dear. She stood or sat on the deck the whole time I was brushing and dematting her. Then stood up and let me shampoo and conditioner her without one wiggle or growl.

I filled an office trash can with the hair I got off of her.

Shame on hubby and I for letting her get so out of control She has got to have the best temperment of any dog I've ever known. She loves everyone, but especially her Daddy. When we took her in for her yearly vet visit, he complemented us on her beautiful coat and told us how lucky we were that she has no skin issues. She's never had a hot spot. We can't really take any credit for it, she's just very healthy!

She's such a beautiful girl. I'll have to take some pictures of her later and post them.

Anyway, just a bit of brag about Misty

Oh, can't wait to see pictures of how beautiful she looks now! Brushing can be a big chore, and I too have had to learn this the hard way before. Here's my tip - keep the brush where ever you lounge and watch tv -- that way you can easily pick up the brush when you're just sitting around. So even a good brushing when you watch the news can be a good thing

Hello
I do keep the brushes in my end table drawer and brush Abby and Daisy, daily, but since Misty lives outside, she doesn't get brushed nearly as much.

I've got to get out there and take pictures.

I love Goldens. Not surprised she loves the outdoors. I know from the past that outdoor doggies are hard to keep up. They get into everything. You do sound that you love her, though, and she knows it 'cause she sat so still for you. Love to see pics.

We have a female Golden named Penny(she's an inside dog). Penny weighs 93 lbs and she turned 9 years old on June 1st. We had never cut her down, only brushed and combed her, but last summer she was getting so hot and just acted miserable. I shaved her down pretty good and she acted like a puppy again. I'm going to do it again this year for her. With the humidity in July and August she'll just feel so much better and she does grow it out pretty fast. I'll miss her pretty coat, but it will grow out again over the fall and winter. I just want her comfortable.
