| Something to think about.... I had one of my cats at the vet today for shots. While in my room, I heard a couple come in frantic, their cat had been hit by a car. Please, please, please keep your cats indoors so this won't happen, and think twice about letting your dog run off leash in any area that is not 100% protected from traffic. That means avoiding off-leash areas that are not securely fenced in if they are within running distance of traffic. You can do something to prevent being in the situation that these people were in, hearing a vet tech say, "Do you want us to resuscitate if necessary?" This kind of stuff really tears me up. I can't help that kitty, but maybe I can prevent the same thing from happening to even one other furbaby. (I don't know the kitty's status, I left Suki there to be seen when the vet was able).

| I know what you mean. I've got 2 cats (the baby is 14 this July) and when he was younger, I used to let him out. He'd disappear all night down to the creek and I felt bad keeping him in, thinking that he loved being outdoors so much. But at one point, I had to start keeping him inside and it's the best thing I'm sure for him. My female has always been indoors. They aren't exposed to yucky stuff like diseases from wild animals as well as not being able to be hit by vehicles, picked up by creepy people or a multitude of other things that could happen to them. I've never had a cat live this long, and I'm convinced that keeping them indoors is key. I'd love to have a screened porch someday for them to lounge in, but for now, they have their own room with windows that they can sit in. There's nothing worse than taking your baby into the vet with a lifethreatening situation!

YT 500 Club Member | I have always had "indoor" cats because I know they tend to wander. Also, they don't bring home illness, fleas, or worms either. We live a block off a very busy street (four lanes at 40 mph which means 45-50). One day we had to tell our neighbors that their cat was laying in the street. It was very hard.
