Cry RIP Callie

This past Saturday we took our calico Callie into the vet because we noticed that she had lost a lot of weight. She had been down a pound a month ago at her checkup, so about 9 something from over 10 before. On Saturday she weighed in at 6.8, which is nothing for her. I don't know how I didn't notice before, but she hates being held, and it happened so quickly. It was only when I went to cut her nails that I really noticed. At the vet, they felt a larger tumor, about the size of a golf ball, by her intestines. She hadn't been eating all week, and I'm not sure for how long since we have 2 other cats and they share the food, but I've been giving her nutrical all week and trying to get her to eat a bit.
This morning she went in for surgery to see if they could remove it, and when they opened her up, they said it was everywhere. It was blocking her intestines which was why she couldn't eat, it was in her lymphnodes, her kidneys looked like cauliflower, her liver was bright yellow and there was yellow fluid everywhere so they don't think it was working. We decided not to wake her up, because she was on her last leg of life, and we would just have to make the decision in a few days, so it was best just to put her out of her misery. I just feel so bad that she was living with this and we didn't even know.
I'm going to miss her so much, she was only 8 years old, but I know she's better off. Such a feisty little girl, even to the day she died. She definitely had the calico personality, and the loudest purr I've ever heard. RIP Callie Cat.

Thanks everyone. Besides two foster kittens that I had to put to sleep due to feline leukemia, she was my first pet to put down. It's so hard to know you'll never see them again.
I just had to drop Marley off for her spay (can you say bad timing?) so I'm basically a nervous wreck right now!

I am so terribly sorry. It's always hard no matter how long they have been with us. It doesn't take them two minutes to steal our hearts.

I hope Marley is doing well.
