| Chihuahuas? Anyone that has a Chihuahua I'd like some info on them, are they okay with kids & Yorkies? For some reason my daughter is wanting one and I'd love to find her one in time for the Easter bunny! Does anyone on here know of any good breeders or are there any Chi breeders on YT? Please send me a PM if you know of any!!! Thanks, Pam |

| I think you have to be careful. Some Chihuahuas aren't very good with kids, they can be very temperamental and nippy. That being said, my Mom lives with us and has one of the sweetest Chihuahuas you'll ever meet. He's not a barker (a lot of them are), he's even tempered, has never bitten anyone, and he's Scooter's best buddy! They play all of the time. They're a good match because they're both small. Good luck, just take your time in finding the right one! |

| All the chis I've meet have been very nippy. Its not a breed I would recommend with kids.

| Well I am very new to the chih's. We inherited one on Wednesday from a Friend of mine who just couldn't look after her any more, so instead of selling her to some one she didn't trsut etc, I adopted her, so far she is 5 months old, so far she is very friendly, pretty smart, paper and house side trained, can be very hyper at times, but other than that she is very laid back and very licky facey! I have 3 kids 5,10,15, and she is awesome with them... hope this was some help..

| It REALLY depends on how their raised. If you get them as a puppy and you teach the children to be gentle (as you would have to with ANY small breed), a chi should be fine. My ex had a chi that was the sweetest dog you've ever seen in your life. She would never have bit anything or anyone. |

| Thanks Thanks for your replies everyone. I keep hearing about them being mean but I think it's all in how they are raised as well. |

| I have a chi, Buffy is 6. She sleeps ALL day long, I have never seen a dog that likes to sleep that much. Occasionally she will have a huge burst of energy and run through the house like a mad woman. She only barks if she hears a strange noise, or a car(she is a great guard dog), and of course if Rocco or pom gets in the trash can, she barks to scold him, that is so funny to watch. I got Buffy from a pet store, before I new anything about animals in pet stores, so I know she came from a bad place and she can get nervous and even nippy, but I think that has to do with her first 5 months of her life. I love the chi breed, she is very devoted to me and whole family, likes to burrow in blankies, wants to be on a lap or next to a person any time possible, very smart, and sweet. I think if you get a puppy from a good breeder that socializes, just like any puppy, it would be ok with kids.

| I have a chi as well and I have to say they are absolutely wonderful. My Harley is the quietest, most well behaved little thing. He can be a little shy around new people and sometimes he will bark at them while he's hiding behind my legs. He has never, ever so much as snapped at anyone. Not even when my youngest was a baby and pulled his ears and grabbed him by the tell. I also have a chi mix who is a rescue and I know came from a bad place, but even she has turned out to be the sweetest little thing. I've had her since December and I've only heard her bark once. Usually she just sits in my lap and stares at people she isn't used to seeing. She has really come out of her shell in the past couple months and LOVES playing with the kids. When buying a chihuahua its good to follow the same rules you would with buying any breed. Buy from a good breeder, select a puppy with a good temperment, etc.

| Personally, I'm not a big fan of them. I was almost attacked by one when I was 6. To make a long story short, we were going through an open house and I bent down to say hi to the cute puppy and had my hand out for him to sniff and was about 3 feet away and he lunged at my face, growling, and I almost fell backwards into their pool. Needless to say I went hysterical. My mom said that growing up one of the family's friends had a chi and it would always nip her heels. Darn lil ankle bitter! I don't know if this makes a difference, but I've never had bad experiences with long haired ones. Their temperament seems a bit different.

| My sis has a chi named Lily and I couldn't live without her... After I got Lola I wanted to get her a friend to be with her when I couldn't... so we went looking for a chi because that is the only type of dog my sis likes. I wasn't too thrilled about a chi, but once we found her I changed my mind. She is more loving and cuddly than any dog I know... she loves my 4 & 9 year old cousins ... she is always friendly to everyone. Lily (chi) gets along with Lola ... they're best buddies! I think if you find the right breeder and socialize the chi you will have no problem with it. this pic is with my 4 year old cousin and Lily

| I have a chiuaua .. She is very territorial to me ... not to anyone else in the family she is older now and does not want to be messed with... We love her feed her bathe her and she is not around any of our other babies... She has never bitten me but she threatens to bite my hubby and boys...She loves to go for a ride in the car. I bought her because my dad loved chiuauas and I wanted to carry the tradition. She will be the last chiauau I own. I will only own yorkies from now on I highly discourage children with chiuauas and definitely YORKIES ! Just my opionion.. I hope you are able to find a baby that fits your home because furbabys are the best! PS I DONT KNOW HOW TO SPELL CHIUAUAUAUA

| I think just about everyone on YT knows about my Chi, Cali Cupcake. She is probably THE MOST LOVING dog I have ever met. She LOVES Tia and Codie and kisses them all the time. She loves to cuddle and be held in your arms like a baby. She also loves to snuggle and burrow under blankets. I just can't say enough good things about her. She LOVES children but I'm always very careful with kids holding her because she is so tiny and she could get really hurt if she were dropped. I think it's how they are breed and raised. Cali was raised with LOVE and lots of it. She was held and kissed all the time. Plus, she was raised around small children who loved her and were very gentle with her. Cali is VERY loving and sweet. I couldn't have asked for a more darling little girl.
