| Why is my cat doing this?? She was pooped in the bathtub.. twice!! She first did it about a week ago. I thought she did it then because she had already been once in her litter box (and I hadn't noticed) and didn't want to use it a second time. She did it again tonight!! Tonight she had no excuse! She's been eating, drinking, and acting normal. Any ideas of why she is doing this?? I don't want her to make a habit of this!! (Since we got her at 8 weeks she had NEVER had an accident- until last week)

| thats really strange. my cat had a habit of doing that in the past, but it was an unusual situation. i had my cat trained to use the toilet instead of a litter box. he used the toilet for a few months, then i had to give him surgery because he swallowed a toy that got stuck in his intestines. after the surgery he forgot how to use the litter box but couldnt jump onto the toilet...so would go in the tub. how old is your cat? did you move the location of the litter box at all? to deter him from going in the tub you may want to fill it up with a little bit of water. |

| How odd. Have you changed your brand of liter recently? Or is the box not clean enough for her? Has anything significantly changed in your apt. that triggered this new behavior?

| Sometimes this happens if the litter box needs cleaning, or sometimes if the kitty has a UTI, or sometimes, just because you've ticked them off in someway - it's a cat thing. |

| No.. it's the same litter and the same location- everything is the same. It might be right that she is bitter about something though.

| Mine will poop in strange places because she's Queen of The World! (or thinks she is). We have to keep a room baby-gated off at all times because she thinks the Futon is her personal potty! Litterbox is always clean. She goes in the litterbox 90% of the time, but those other times when the mood strikes her she's gone on: the bathroom rug, once she went on the dining room table on a sheet we had sitting there waiting to be folded. Aaack!!! She gets constipated sometimes and thats when she goes in really odd places. This is the only cat I've ever had that does this. And I've had a few cats in my life. Oh yeah, she is cranky too. She does think she's the Queen of everyone in the house. So I guess this is her way of showing it. She checks out very healthy at the vets. Donating YT 500 Club Member | We once had a siamese cat that started urinating in the tub. Turns out he had an UTI. This happened a couple of different times with him. I know it was his way of letting us know he was having trouble. Never any pooping in the tub though.

| I don't really have any advice, but a friend of mine says her cat will only go potty in her bathtub. she refuses to use her litter box...and this was all of a sudden. she had always used her box fine. So I dont think it is medical or anything like that. there is something going on in her head that makes her prefer the tub cats are funny like that good luck!!!!

| It might be an indoor cat thing, sometimes they get a little crazy.

| When cats do that they are trying to say they are saying something is upsetting them. All you have to do to make it stop is figure out what it is. It could be that they don't feel good (maybe a trip to the vet is in order) or you are not doing something to their liking . They are pretty persnickity. I had 2 cats do that and both times it ended up being illness. They both developed Diabetes. The first one was too advanced to save(vet discovered other problems, too) and the second ended up on insulin. I had one other cat that did it when the litter box wasn't quite sterile enough for him . I hope you find out what she is trying to tell you. Maybe she just wants a bigger box .

| I would get her to the vet first to rule out problems, if it persists and you cant block off her access to the bathroom..try putting the litterbox IN the bathtub for a week..slowly move it out of the bathroom and back to its original spot..that should work!! Dawn |
