YT Addict | I am sick of the school year already! My son started 3rd grade this year. friday a boy in his class took his lunchbox and tore it. we had just bought it the day before so i was kinda mad. when we said something to the boys parents they didnt care and tried to act like my son is a good for nothing brat. ok, the other boy is a bully and his parents know it but refuse to do anything about it. So my son comes home today telling me that the other boy it threatening to bring a gun to shoot him with. i know that it is prob. just talk. i still refuse to take this one lightly or just drop it. there are to many school shooting in this country every year. I just emailed the teacher demanding something be done. we live in a really small town w 1 class per grade level so changing classes is not an option. i refuse to have to switch my kids schools because of a bully!! sorry for rambling!

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | That is a very serious threat - whether he meant it or not. Especially coming from a 3rd grader. He's what? 7? 8? if I were you I'd go right to the super intendant - if this kid is saying things like that at his age they're REALLY going to need to keep an eye on him as he gets older. So sorry about this. Big hugs.

| Oh no!! That's terrible Even if that boy is not serious, that type of talk and threats should not be tolerated at the school. I would definitely be pitching a fit at the school about the bullying that's going on...Why are some kids so cruel?? Your poor son...It's not fair.

| Talk to the administration but make sure the teacher is also aware so he/she can keep an eye out for your child. In my district the teachers really don't have too much pull in matters of discipline - it is an administrator's territory, but at my school that is grounds for suspension and evaluation before the student can return. |

| Had I ever made a threat or behaved like that, my own parents would have called the police and made me sit down and talk with them - just to scare the &%$# out of me. (My younger brother was caught shoplifting and mom did that very thing! Needless to say it was the last time he ever stole something). Hopefully the school will take this seriously. I'm sure it is all "talk" and the bully doesn't have any idea of the implications or seriousness of what he's saying. Hopefully someone can make that really clear to him. I'd take this as far up the administration as you can. The parents sound like a couple of irresponsible, negligent disasters. I'm sorry this is happening to your son. |

YT Addict | Sorry I havent updated you guys. My hubby went to the school yesterday and talked to the teacher and the princ. at the same time. My son has failed to tell us that he had been sent to the office with the other boy the day before. Not because he was in trouble but because the princ. was trying to find out what was going on. my hubby was told that when they tried to talk to my son (with the other boy in the room) he got all quiet. My son gets nervous around adults. Im sure he didnt say anything cause he didnt want the other boy to hear him. The school is doing everything they can to keep the boys away from each other. They are also looking into the gun comment. There were a few other boys that overheard it and they were punished for not speaking up. nothing big, just had to sit out of recess. After my hubby got done at the school he went and talked to the police again. They had talked to the boys parents who tried to say he never gets into trouble. The cope laughed at them. They have him on tape stealing from the store and have had 5 complaints of him telling kids he was going to get a gun on them. His parents were told that one more complaint, no matter how small, they are getting the tape, all the reports they have on him, picking him up and he is going to juvie. When i picked up my son yesterday I asked him how his day was. He said the other boy was at school bragging about how nobody was going to do anything about the gun threat. I asked my son if he had told the teacher that and he didnt. Now we are trying to get it through to my son what is really considered tattling and what I am at the point where my kids are not going outside to play until this all dies down. Im glad we were already in the process of looking for a house out of this stupid little town!!!!! oh, my hibby also talked to the super. of the school district and let him know what is going on. He is keeping a close eye on the situation for us.

Yorkie Yakker | Oh Girl I am HOT! I teach 5th grade and at my school, that kid would have been expelled. You need to read your school handbook or go to the superintendant. You DEMAND it. Don't let anyone push you over. That's serious stuff. Sounds like the little punk needs to spend some time at home with mom and dad so they can get a big dose of him! Let us know how it goes.... geez I'm mad!

| you need to push the issue big time. dont sit back and let them "take care" of it. call everyday! squeeky wheel gets the oil! Make sure something gets done now. where we use to live they knew if my husband went to the school he wasnt happy! and they were going to fix something and fast. first day of school here our 5y didnt get off the bus. my hubby went to the school they told him the school was closed. he said MY SON DIDNT GET HOME YOU ARE NOT CLOSED! they have figured out that he isnt going to back down for anything. BTW they didnt give the bus driver our address so he didnt know where to leave my son. so after getting him on the cell and giving the address, he came back around and dropped him off, hasnt missed our house again.
