| Opinion on pet rentals! A morning news show had a story about this company yesterday, and I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand, they say they rescue dogs from shelters and bad situations, rehabilitate them, and train them. BUT-dogs are not meant to be bounced around from person to person...... What do you think about this new business:: http://www.flexpetz.com/ On TV they said is cost like $1400 per year to rent a pet. The longest you can keep it is 7 days in a row. They also said the average price of owning a dog was around $1200 per year. |

| I just checked it out a little but it seems really strange to me. Why in heck would someone even WANT a service like that? It doesn't seem fair to the dogs at all but I can't imagine this becoming a successful business. What kind of person feels the need to rent a dog?

| I think it could work out maybe but dogs and people really get attached and the renting stuff gives neither the time to bond. Anyhow, Missy you don't need to rent. (I know you are only asking for opinions and not because you are considering it) |

My husband thinks it is a great idea. He thinks that people who live in cities will like the service, and it is going to be a big business. He doesn't see anything wrong with renting pets... while I find it morally disturbing. So, I posted this to see what the good people of YT thought of the idea. | |

I Love My Lil' Punkin's Donating Member | I heard about this a few months ago, but also saw it on t.v. yesterday. I don't care what the owner of that place says (and OF COURSE she is going to say it's great - she is raking in the $$$!), I do not agree with this AT ALL. Can you imagine how unhealthy it is for the dogs to be bounced around from home to home? Never being able to bond with anyone for it's lifetime? It is just very, very SAD IMO. I bet those poor sweet babies are soooo confused I think this should be illegal!

| seems like a really unstable volatile idea to me ... that poor dog is going to miss the one-on-one love only a pet and pet lover can obtain through time ..... my opinion:::: UGH!!!

| I agree, rent a pet isn't a very good situation for the animal. BUT...... maybe "share a pet" would be better. Only 2-3 people, sharing a pet. I know that Shelby and Seymour LOVE to visit with our parents and they feel right at home there. They have their favorite places at their house, just like they have them at ours. I think that it may work with only a few people. They have to be able to share expenses and work out a schedule...... but no worries about boarding when vacationing or having to go somewhere that a pet can't go. Of course, I couldn't Share mine.... I just gotta have them with me all the time!!! )
