| Has anybody here completely lost taste/smell? Just wondering if any of you have completely lost your sense of taste and smell? I lost mine 11 months ago and looks like its never going to come back. I cant smell if my food is spoiled or smoke or anything. The only thing I can taste is salty, sweet, better, tangy and spicy. No other flavors such as peach, vanilla, chocolate, meats, banana, etc can be tasted. The ear, nose throat Dr that I went to basically laughed at me and said, sorry, you are S.O.L. Are any of you into herbal/holistic remedies? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! Last years holiday season was horrible and this years will be almost unbearable. Thanks so much, Lynn |

| Oh, I'm so sorry...that stinks. I've lost mine temporarily (after my ear surgery this summer) and it was horrible while it lasted. I was afraid it wasn't going to come back, but it did. If I were you, I'd go to a different doctor. They should at least be able to tell you why you lost it.

| Thank you! You know exactly how it is. Th crack-pot Dr I saw said it was because of the cold that I had at the time. The virus wiped out the olfactory nerves. My Neurologist said that also, but I should get it back in a couple of months. He also said it wasnt my MS that was the problem like I first thought. I think it was a product that I used during my cold that did it. If that is the case, then it is permanently gone for ever. So, hopefully there is a knowledgable holistic person out there!!!! Lynn |

| Im thinking it must be some type of nerve damage... I'd find a neurologist or some type of specialist

| I lost my sense of taste about 4 years ago and I can't remember how long it lasted...I think about 3 months. It happened after a virus I had and you'd think I would have lost weight in that time, but instead, I ate everything in sight trying to find something that tasted good. I don't think my sense of smell was effected by it though. I feel so bad for you and hope you can eventually get those senses back!

| Yah, I have been eating even more looking for some kind of flavor! I used to love to go out to eat. Now its pointless. The only thing I can smell and know what it is are the clorine tablets that go in a swimming pool. I wish I could smell my horse. I love the smell of horses. Thanks again, Lynn |
