| How did your husband propose to you? I thought it would be neat to hear all of your proposal stories! Let's see all the sweet/crazy stories you've all got about how your hubbies popped the big question!

| Jim and I were in high school and it was summer. We were working in a program for low income kids helping with a big move to a new school building. When we were talking to the others Jim would say things like, when we get married we'll do this or that. I finally said you keep saying that but you've never asked me. He said he would get around to it eventually. An hr later he said how about it? will you marry me? I told hm I would think about it and they let him squirm for about a minute then said yes. We were upcoming seniors at the time and we'll celebrate 25 yrs of marriage this December.

| My husband asked my father for my hand, and then came got down on his knee and proposed to me in my living room. I thought it was so cute, because after he proposed my dad came out, and said are you happy baby?

| We were at a jewelry store with a friend of his who was buying a ring for his g/f. I was helping HIM pick out a ring for her. I found one I absolutely fell IN LOVE with. DH bought it and proposed to me right there in the store. It took me a minute to get over the shock - I was so busy helping his friend pick out a ring I didn't even notice DH had bought the one I loved. After it registered that he had just asked me to marry him I finally said yes.

| Mark and I had been dating 7 years. He came over on Valentine's night with lots of candy and gifts for my 2 boys. After they went to bed he gave me a stuffed koala bear. I thought it was cute and kept playing with it. Mark took it away from me and opened the bear's paws and my engagement ring fell out. He just looked at me and said, "Don't you think it's about time"?

| Hubby was working in Colorado at the time. I lived at home with my parents in Georgia. We had been dating almost 5 years. He sent me a telegram that said -- Marry me and a few minutes later the delivery guy showed up at my office with a dozen red roses. |

| Congrats to all of you celebrating so many years of marriage! You are a great example in this society of divorces! My husband and I have only been married 5 (almost 6) months! I knew it was coming sometime soon, but didn't know exactly when. I was studying for my semester finals on a Saturday morning, and went over to his house to use his internet (he was sleeping). I studied all morning, he woke up about noon, spent 3 hours playing X-box, then suddenly looked nervous and left, saying he'd be back at 6 to get me for dinner and a movie. As soon as he left the house, I jumped around the kitchen saying "Please God, please let it be today!!!!" I managed to study until 5, went and got pretty, and he picked me up. We went to a movie, he insisted on getting food afterwards, blindfolded me, and drove around for awhile. Finally he led me (still blindfolded) to what turned out to be a gazebo. He had a mariachi band waiting, and as soon as I sat down they started to play. I kept waiting for him to pop the question, but after about 2 hours of music, he started packing everything up to leave, and the band left. I asked where we were going next, and he said back home. I WAS DEVISTATED!!! He drove me home, and I cried all the way (silently of course). I practically jumped out of the car and ran to my apartment, but I fumbled for my keys and he caught up. I went into my apartment and straight to my bedroom. I had to walk in and turn on the light from the fan, and when I did there were TONS of rose petals at the foot of my bed, 2 dozen roses, and letters spelling "Marry Me" I took about 4 seconds to understand, and as I turned around, I said "Finally! I was so disappointed!" He sat there just laughin at me until I said "You already know the answer, but you have to ASK!" He did, and we're SO happy! Long story, I know, but it sets the stage!

| I met my husband at the U.S. O. in Chicago during the war . He was away for awhile and then came back and we had a fairly long courtship. My folks knew him well but his Mom and Dad were in Greece with the FAA so when they got back after a year my hubby took me to Falls Church, Va. to meet them. We had looked at rings earlier in Chicago and I didn't know that he bought one.....so one evening after an outside Louie Armstrong concert in D.C. ( close to falls church) we drove to the Capitol bldg and it was such a beautiful sight with all the lights on it and about midnight he asked me to marry him and of course I said 'Yes" Memories!!
