| The shelter's have to get something to keep themselves operating I would guess. That dosen't seem like alot since the dogs/cats are up to date with shots and are neutered/spayed. Our first rescue from our local pound was $25.00. Way back when I don't know what they charge today. |

| I believe those are fair prices seeing as they are up to date on shots, and spayed or neutered. It also discourages people from buying them just on a whim.

| It depends on the shelter. I recently adopted a kitten who was spayed, UTD on shots, tested for Feline Luk., and microchipped for $25. This particular shelter (the main shelter for the city) charges $25 for all the animals and includes all the stuff listed above. Such a great bargain! Sometimes during the summer they run "specials" where kittens are $1! |

| Shots and spay and neuter is extra, this is just the first part and then you cannot take them home until the procedure is done.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | when i started working at my city's shelter 12 years ago dogs and cats were $25. Now they are all $100, and if its a puppy or kitten you get $25 after you get them fixed (if they aren't old enough to get fixed at the shelter) and you have to sign a spay/neuter contract.

| The shelter I work at charges $10.00 an animal. The animals are spayed/neutered and given rabies, distemper and bordatella vaccines before they leave. The shelter and humane society cover the cost of the surgeries and vaccines.
