| Moving... just need to decide where! I'm graduating in December.. yay! I have a couple interviews upcoming with national companies that if they like me and want to hire me, I can choose where i want to go. THe companies are Target, PetSmart, and Walgreens. I don't really see myself managing any of these companies in 10 yrs, but I figure its a good step in the door and good experience. Not to mention Target Dept. managers start out at about $40,000 a yr. Not too shabby. Anywhere, I sort of need to know where I want to go before my interviews so I can give them some idea. My whole family is here in south GA. I lived in SC for two years and thought i wanted to move back there but then I realized while I'm not really tied down with kids or a hubby I want to do something different and live in a different place. I took the quiz at www.findyourspot.com to get some ideas. Currently I'm considering: San Marcos, TX Hattiesburg, MS Biloxi Gulfport, MS Corpus Christi, TX New Orleans Ideally I would like a smaller town near a bigger city (like if I went to NOLA I would live in Metarie). I want somewhere within two hrs of the coast and if its not it must have really good lakes or rivers. I want somewhere within commuting distance of a University so if I decide to get my MBA in a year or two I can. And of course, somewhere dog friendly. So if anyone could give me any advice about the places above or offer another suggestion I would appreciate it! Its so nerve wracking knowing I can move almost anywhere in the USA right now. Its too many choices for me.

| San Marcos might fit your bill! It is a GREAT little college town. It has a very small town feel, but the campus has about 20,000 students. It is 1/2 hour from Austin - the GREATEST (well, imho) in Texas. Austin is awesome and EXTREMELY dog friendly. Live music every day/night, in many many venues. The city as a whole is very laid back, the motto is, "Keep Austin Wierd" I don't think you would ever regret being close to Austin. You can drive right down to the Texas coast and if you want, on down to South Padre (more than 2 hours though) to the prettiest beach in Texas. Corpus Christi is on the coast, and is within 2 hours of San Antonio. You might really like that too. Corpus is a great little city! I would check the crime rates in these cities - I've heard that it is very high in Biloxi and New Orleans - but I could be wrong, and someone living there will surely know better than me. The violent crime rate in San Marcos/Austin is extremely low. I feel very safe here. Good luck with your decision.

| I don't think I'd pick New Orleans. It seems like it would be a big place with a lot of people. I can't help you with your other choices as I've never been to either.

| New Orleans is a great city with ALOT of recovery to do... I wouldnt move there if I were a single female, at least not now. It is a great city but there is a great amount of crime there and too much recovery still needed.... But you should go and visit... The French Quarter is about the only place in town that actually looks like it is getting close to recovery.... Good Luck!

| What about the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast? No matter where you would chose, you would always be close to a city or two, airports, etc. Also you 'd be close to the coast. |

| San Marcos would be awesome! Austin is FUN FUN FUN, and you would be super close to San Antonio. I just know you would fall in love with both citys. I am originally from Alaska and I moved to Texas 7 years ago and I hope I never have to leave. But like you I need to be by water so I live in Corpus Christi. If you are ever down this way pm me your # and we can bum around together! Best of luck and congratulations! If you have any other questions let me know! |

From what everyone has said San Marcos sounds like a great little town, just like the one I've lived in for 22 yrs, except its in TXs. Here, the closest big city is Savannah, an hour away. WIth San Antonio and Austin being so close that is just awesome. It would give me more job opprotunities. All the companies are asking me where I'd like to be placed then if they want to hire me, they'll work with me on it. I would love to manage the PetsHotel part of petsmart, but I guess I'll just have to wait and see who hires me. BUt at least at this point I can tell them a city or two I'm interested in working in.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Move to Milltown, NJ! hehe. Seriously though. We're a small town - about 7,000 people and 1.7 sq. miles. Very safe town - the crime rate is like 0, and we have AWESOME schools. and we're only a 40 minute train ride from Manhattan! Jooiiiin ussssssss. But since you don't want to go North...hm....I think TX sounds good!
