| My son just got hit by a car! ( but he's ok!) Thankfully he is ok..he is 13 next month..and i am forever telling him to be careful when crossing the roads. the guy that hit him came to my door really shaken...felt sorry for him, my son said he wasn't speeding and that it was his fault as he was crossing the road in a hurry to get to his friends house and stepped out from behind a caravan..i think he has learnt his lesson! i told him he could now be in casualty with a broken leg..or worse he could have been killed! my husband is away for a couple of weeks too...he is not happy about it at all! my son has a large bruise above his knee and i have put ice on it and he insists he is fine. It's such a worry when they start to grow up and want more independance, you do sometimes wish you could be right behind them every where they go!

| I'm so glad he's ok. I must say I'm very impressed with your son admitting that it was his fault. Unfortunately so many people are quick to blame others and in the world we live in today are looking for opportunities to sue. Your situation hit close to home only being on the side of the driver. I work with my parents, we have a small business and about a month ago one of our technicians was driving down the road in a company vehicle, he had no stop sign or stop lights and an 8 year old boy ran a stop sign on his bicycle and ran right into the side of the van. We have about 6 witnesses saying they saw the boy run the stop sign but the family got a lawyer and is trying to sue. Our insurance company is dealing with it and not giving in. Our poor technician was really shaken up and felt horrible even though there's nothing he could have done to prevent it. You should be very proud of your son's honesty and it shows what great parents you both are! Thank God he's OK!

I asked him if he thought the guy was speeding and he said straight off that he wasn't and that it was totally his fault for stepping out from behind the caravan..i think he now understands how easy it is for accidents like this to happen. everytime he is going across to the skatepark which is at the back of our house and he has to cross a busy road to get to it, i ALWAYS say..'be careful crossing that road'!! and i'm sure he gets tired of me going on at him..but i think he now understands why!
