| Happy but sad I went shopping today. While I was out I stopped in a music store. The man who owns it is very friendly and super nice. I've been in there several (ok a LOT) of times just looking. Well, today I saw IT. He had a beautiful violin that was screaming my name just as loud as it could. He had two of them actually, but this one....OMG. So he handed it to me and let me play. I was awful, but it just felt soooo wonderful. Stupid me asked how much. *sigh* He looked at me and said, "For you, $895." Now I know he had it priced more than this (it was marked at $1295) so he was willing to let me have it for $400 less. I don't have $895. I just payed for school. I am beyond broke right now. My heart is just absolutely breaking. I literally cried when I handed the violin back to him. I have never ever had an instrument call to me the way that one did. I am so happy that I got the chance to experience the feel of that violin in my hands and rested on my shoulder....it was just *enchanted sigh*. It just kills me that I couldn't bring it home and play it forever.

| awwwww I'm sorry! My husband bought a violin years ago at an antique shop. It wasn't in great shape, but he completely restored it. No one plays, but he bought it for decoration. He built a shelf for it, and we have it hanging on the wall. It's beautiful. If it were mine, I'd just give it to you. But, it's hubby's and he's one of those people who never likes to get rid of anything........a pack rat! lol Is it possible that you could talk to the guy an see if you can put a deposit on it and make payments? It's worth a shot.

| Yeah, he doesn't finance the violins. I felt bad for even asking him after he knocked $400 off the price, but OMG it just felt so amazing just holding it! I am just heartbroken that I couldn't buy it, but at the same time I am happy and feeling quite lucky. Some people go their entire lives without ever experiencing what I did in just those few short minutes.

| No, he won't. It's Ok though. If I scrimp and pink and make a few sacrifices then hopefully in about 6 months or so, I can have enough saved up. He most likely won't have THAT ONE for sale, but he may have one that sounds as beautiful as it did. If not, then I can keep on saving money and looking and hopefully one day find another one I love just as much.

| Wow, do I know the feeling.........saw one I wanted so bad but just couldn't fork out the money so bought a couple off of Ebay for a great price and spent the rest on getting Mr. Toby man. Good decision.......I play with Toby more than I do the violin! lol Just a slight bit of humor to cheer you up!

| Oh, it drives me crazy too! But, what I usually do is throw stuff away when I'm doing spring/fall cleaning. He never even notices because he forgets what he has stored away. I don't get why he buys things and then stores them away. If you're not using it, why do you need it? lol

| At least your hubby DID something with the violin. He restored it and has it displayed. My dad has a model ship that he was going to build. One of those expensive ones that he bought 22 years ago. For 22 years it has been sitting there, in the box, still wrapped in plastic. Keeps claiming he's going to build it.

| Awww, I feel so bad for you! I know the feeling. It takes a long time to find just the PERFECT one that fits you and feels so familiar to you...same with pianos, unfortunately (they're harder to keep replacing )....probably with any muscial instrument. The sad thing is, the ones that we always fall in love with are the very expensive ones, and even though that's an amazingly great price, when you don't have it, you don't have it. I really hope you find some way to get it or maybe some cash windfall will land in your lap!

| We bought my dtr a good violin for orchestra and it took us a year to get it paid for. She switched to bass after a few months but continued to play it. She, the Queen of Pink, found a pink violin on EBAY for $10.00 + 20 shipping. (I posted in another thread that it was more in shipping, but I just checked with her and the total was about $30.00). She needed money more than 2 violins, so she took them both to a music shop to sell the better of the 2. They told her the Pink one was much better (the case it came in alone was worth about $100.00) so they bought her first one, gave her a pretty good chunk of money for it, and told her to hang on to the pink one. So, check EBAY - you may be able to find one that you can afford. Her pink one is awesome! And it came with more than her first one. Good luck - one day you will have you violin .
