| Los Angeles, California Hi everyone, I am currently in the process of preparing to apply to law school, I am taking the LSAT in September and will begin the application process then as well. My interest is Entertainment Law and from what i have read the 4 best Entertainment Law programs are out in Los Angeles. (UCLA, USC, Loyola Marymount, and Southwestern) So I was wondering, if anyone knows anyone who goes to school or lives in L.A. and if they can tell me anything about the areas in which these schools are located. Also where are some more affordable yet safe areas to live near these schools. I am hoping to get accepted at one of these schools for Fall 2008. UCLA is a long shot, Loyola and Southwestern are schools that I have a pretty good chance of being accepted too. Any information y'all have would be great Thanks!

| I'm waiting to hear too, LOL...I want to move from the desert over that way which will be closer to dh's work and since he wants to stay here, he's not being very cooperative in suggesting surrounding areas . good luck btw!

| My son who graduated UC Berkeley and lives in San Francisco went to law school up there. One of the law schools in LA makes it quite easy to get into, but when you graduate, you can only practice law in CA. Do some research on the different choices and costs. |

This is true and has to do with the kind of accreditation the school has. The ones accredited by the California Bar Association allows you to apply for a license for CA. Look for the ones accredited by the American Bar association. The CA ones are primarily the smaller, private schools. They are easier to get into because of the type of accreditation they have. | |

| Yeah I have looked at all of this information and all four schools that I am planning to apply to are all ABA accredited. Also, I plan to practice law in L.A. which is why I want to go to school there, because it's much easier to take the bar and get a job at a law firm in the same state that you go to law school. Plus for entertainment law I really need to be in either L.A. or New York. Yeah I know that there really isn't "affordable" housing in the area but I'm just trying to find out where are the safe places to live near these schools. I've read some info that some of these schools aren't exactly in the nicest/safest areas in the city. I have a friend (my lil sis in my sorority) who lives in Agoura Hills, California which is just outside of Los Angeles and I've tried to contact her but she's in her last year of undergrad and busy with sorority/recruitment stuff.

| Yes it is very expensive But, I really want to practice Entertainment Law and have done my research on the law schools that offer programs in this and LA seems to be the place. Also, I'm 22 and I feel like if I don't do it now when I'm young with nothing holding me back, I may never do it. And I don't want to spend the rest of my life regretting the decision. Just now I'm trying to find out as much information about neighborhoods, etc,. so when I start visiting the schools I can have some apartment complexes already reserached and go visit them too!

Good Luck with school! What are you majoring in, how much time do you have left? Have you tried to look on Amazon and some of those sites for text books? also I had a friend who had to pay her way through school as well and she would email the teachers and ask if it was okay to use an older edition of the text book. a lot of times they didn't care and she would be able to get those books very cheap!
