| Actor Ving Rhames' Dogs Maul Man to Death A caretaker at Ving Rhames' Los Angeles home was mauled to death Friday by the actor's dogs, police said. Officers were called to the actor's Brentwood address about 7:15 a.m., where they found the man lying on the front lawn, bite wounds covering his body. The victim was not immediately identified, but Los Angeles Police Officer Sandra Gonzalez said he was a 40-year-old black man and had worked for the Mission: Impossible star for two years, maintaining the property and tending to the animals. Rhames, 46, was out of the country shooting a movie, and his agent did not immediately comment on the attack. The actor does not have a regular publicist. Gonzalez said that animal control rounded up all four of Rhames' dogs—three mastiffs and an English bulldog—at least two of which were belived to have been involved in the fatal mauling. Under California law, owners are liable for dog attacks, but no charges have yet been filed. Best known for his roles in Pulp Fiction and the Mission: Impossible trilogy, the Golden Globe-winning Rhames most recently starred in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. According to IMDb, he is currently shooting the thriller The Tournament in the U.K. http://www.eonline.com/news/article/...2-c5eba356b614

| Wow, that seems a little odd for those breeds? I honestly was expecting to read the dogs to be pits/staffordshires. I hope the man's family is ok, and I hope the family of the man is doing well.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Read this on the news yesterday. I just cannot think of HOW this happened, esp. as this man took care of those dogs. What could've provoked this? I feel horrible for this man's family. At the same time, after seeing pics of those dogs - I feel horrible for the dogs as well. I do hope they determine, before putting down ALL of the dogs, whether it was 1 dog who was violent - or all of them. Tragedy.

| I also saw this on the news....they have to wait for the autopsy to be done... at this point they have no idea if the caretaker died from natural causes and then the dogs may have bitten him.... The authorities where surprised at how calm and docile the dogs all where when they arrived at the residence... none of the dogs had any obvious evidence on them that they did this....so they couldn't determine if one did it or all four...

| They are saying now that it was probably a heart attack, and that it wasn't the dogs that caused the death. http://www.tmz.com/2007/08/03/victim...-heart-attack/ |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Ya know, when I saw pics of those dogs being taken away - I just had an overwhelming feeling that they did not do it. Now it sounds like they might not have. Can you imagine if you were Ving, out of the country, dogs in custody - could be put down, caretaker dead. What a nightmare.

| If he had a heart attack, the bite marks could've been from them trying to get him around to help. You know how if you are down on the floor and your yorkie will come and pull your hair or nip or something. I hope the dogs didn't do it. |
