| I don't know anything about that laptop but I always heard good things about gateways in the past. It seems that lately, though, a Mac is the way to go. EVERYBODY raves about their mac. I just can't break down and buy one...I'm so used to a PC that I don't want to take the time to learn how to use a mac. Sorry I'm not much help....that's a great price, though!

| I think you should buy a Mac. My husband, who is a computer programmer and has had PC's since 5th grade has even switched to Mac. I thought he was crazy until he bought me a Macbook. It took me a month or so to adjust. I LOVE IT. I plug my camera in and it just knows what to do. He does all sorts of video editing and stuff he could never do before. He installed Windows somehow so I can use quickbooks and it's more stable on Mac than on a PC. Those commercials are right. Buy a Mac.

You can get a refurbished macbook here: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...m=CertifiedMac and not even have to spend much...the refurbished ones come with the same warranty a brand new one would. totally worth it. IMHO

| I have had several Gateways and have not been entirely happy with them. I really like the Dell computers. I can tell you I had some issues with Vista not working with all of my software. I don't know if it was Vista or Office 2007, but the Word files saved with a weird extension that no other version of Word could open, not even when saved in an alternate version format. My Vista puter sits in the corner. I bought a new Windows XP for my daily work things, as my clients could not open documents prepared with Vista and Office 2007. Just some food for thought. I don't know about other manufacturers, but Dell offers a choice of Vista or XP on new computers.

I have a Dell and love it (laptop) ...I disliked my Gateway .... and I used a Mac in the classroom when teaching ... It is all a matter of opinion ... Cadillac, Mercedes, BMW???? All fine cars ... just a preference ... Good luck!

I heard when Vista first came out, that some of the older (meaning, not BRAND NEW) computers would have a hard time with it, but I don't think it's an issue at all with new computers. I think most of them are ok; I know people who have Toshibas, Sonys, etc...but I do hear that the people who have Mac's LOVE THEM!!!

| I have a Dell too, and I love it. It is a little big though, but it has all the bells and whistles you could want. MAC is a great computer too. I used one at work and loved it.
