| My VCR ATE my sonogram tape!!! So mad! So my best friend came over yesterday and wanted to see the sonogram video taken yesterday (the doctor recorded it for me on a VHS). I put the tape in this old VCR that we dont use anymore (I dont think I own any video tapes) and the VCR literally ate my tape right up. It ate the inside of my tape and I couldnt even get it out, I was so upset. My husband had to actually take apart the entire TV (which he can not put back together by the way, lol, but thats okay it was a really old tv) to get out all the tape and the tape is of course really crinkly and messed up. Do you think it will be salvageable? I want to get it converted to a DVD.

| Why don't you ask the doctor if they could put it on a VCR format for you. I'm sure your not the first person who's TV ate their tape. Sorry for your trouble.

| I am so sorry that happened. Maybe the doctor has a copy of it in your file. I find it kind of wierd that they put on a VHS tape when VHS is not used anymore. |

| The machine they use only did VHS and they can only make a tape while they were actually doing the sonogram

| I am so sorry that this happened! If you can't get it fixed, maybe you could consider the keepsake videos...the 4D ones. That way you would still have one close to the same time-frame as this one. We had one done with our son at 28 weeks and loved it. It was a really nice place in Houston that created this beautiful ultrasound for us. Just a thought. I know how special the ultrasound videos are to have. We were spoiled because we had a level II ultrasound every visit that we had with our daughter and son (I was extreme high-risk). I still watch their videos....I am goofy about my children. Tammy Last edited by TammyJM; 07-27-2007 at 07:53 AM. |

| Call the Doctor's office and ask them to make another copy. I'm pretty sure they'll have a copy of their own.

Im hoping I can still get my video transfered to DVD. My mom thinks she can do it so as long as its not too damaged I think it will be okay.

| I had a tape recorder back in the day that use to eat all my tapes. I was still able to play them even if tape was taped (lol) or they were extremely crinkled. The tape should be fine if you put it in a different VCR. It should still play it just may have a bit of feedback. Sorry it happened to your sonogram tape . |

| The vhs tape of my daughters delvery got stuck in the vcr too. The tape was really wrinkled but it was not torn, so I tried to straighten it as much as possible and winded it back up into the tape and it still works. Good luck! |

| My friend who is pregnant, got hers done on DVD. Maybe your doctor can't do it... You could ask for a remake of the tape, and then go by a cheap VHS player.. they can't be that much. I think walmart still carries them. |

| OH NO!!! I know when my cousin had hers done, they only made a the tape right then...I thought they would have copies (she was going to mail one to someone), but they didn't.....eek.......so hopefully you can use your tape!! I know when my daughter was young(er), she LOVED Mary Poppins and watched that tape over and over.......our VCR ate it and I took my VCR to my Dad (I think that is what us Daddy's girls do....they can fix everything right).....anyway, he managed to get the tape out and somehow fix the tape (the tape ribbon was actually torn in two).....and the tape could be played with only a little flicker in the movie where the ribbon was mended back together). Do you have a tv/vcr repair place near you? They may be able to help....
