Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | YOUR biggest in the name of BEAUTY mistake ? Since I just this morning SCREWED up and tried Sea Salt on my face and made it SO much worse by scrubbing .....(thanks Carolyn for the great stuff LOL) but I now know it's for your BODY ONLY ..... My warning is - unless you want to have that freshly NUKED look NO sea salt scrubs on the face !! Anyway - I was thinking about the things I've done that I INSTANTLY regretted....like dying my hair RED once.....Without sharing TMGI (too much graphic info) - what have you guys done that you look back on and say - "WHAT in God's Green Earth was I THINKIN ?" |

| Lol Oh Vee..sea salt on your face..ouch!!! My best friend is my hair dresser...one time she wanted to remove all the built up color from my hair...sounded good...but I was more white headed then we knew. My hair was "bubble gum pink" after dying it burgandy. She didn't have any more color at her house..so I had to go to the salon the next day...in the mean time I must have run into every friend I had...the odd thing was, many thought I wanted it that way!!! AND Bill never reacted..."Look at my hair you idiot!!" His response.."I thought you wanted it pink, Lucy".. |

| I love trying different types of leave-in conditioners. One time I bought Indian Hemp to test out on my hair. The girl in the store told me that it wasn't for my hair type but I didn't believe her; so I bought it anyway. So I got home, washed my hair and then applied a ton of hemp to my damp hair. I left it in for 1 hour and then jumped back into the shower to rinse it off. Well ... it wouldn't come off!! I must've washed my hair 10 times!! I was almost in tears! Then I got a brillant idea ... try washing the hemp out by using laundry detergent!! So I ran into the laundry room, grabbed the bottle of Ajax (bleach free, of course lol), jumped back in the shower and washed my hair!! Needless to say ... it didn't work either (and after about 5 washes)!! By now I was outright crying. I called my grandma and asked her to come down and help me!! She came down, looked at my hair and said this is easy to fit!! She squeezed a bunch of fresh lemons into my hair, then warmed up a damp towel and wrapped my hair in it. After about 5 minutes, almost all of the hemp came out!! We had to do it one more time to get everything out but it worked!! According to my grandma, the lemons and heat were able to draw out the hemp ... whatever that means lololol It was a NIGHTMARE but thank goodness for my granny!!

| well one time when I tried to bleach my hair, I didn't leave it on long enough and it turned orange. I was on my way to Florida to watch my husband graduate from Navy flight school so there I was with orange hair. Then decided to go brown (I'm really a dishwater blonde) and it turned green! I've also been red...doesn't go with my skin color All this was in the days before it was fashionable to have hair in all colors. |

You could try Baking Soda mixed with your favorite cleanser for a great scrub...and it's cheap...I use it on the flaky skin I get w/ the Retin A and it works wonders....

| I had a family funeral to go to and needed to color my hair (roots, you know). I grabbed a brand different from the one I usually use, but the same color. Being a natural redhead, the colors always turn out darker. I put the new one on - the night before the funeral, and I am glow-in-the-dark road cone orange! I panic a few minutes then run next door to my neighbor, who is a hairdresser. She put on some kind of neutralizer (after just about wetting herself laughing at me) and it turned bright purple!!! Now, we are both panicking. Checked the box, yep, has some sort of metal ingredient that caused the purple. So, she called her boss (who owned the salon) and he told her he would meet her at the salon, he had something that would save it. (Fri. nite - salon closed). Had to wash it about 10 times, but we managed to save my hair - and my ego at the funeral. Never used that brand again. Also, tried a new haircut when I was young - the lady paid no attention to what I was saying and cut it so short, the hair on my arms was longer than the hair on my head. I locked myself in my room for a week (it was summer, I was 16) and cried. Thank goodness my hair grew fast.

| Lol, this is a great thread! Many years ago I accidently dyed my hair bright orange. I remember coming out of the bathroom and my dog took one look at me and started barking hysterically. Have you ever used Quick Tan on your legs and then wearing shorts, get into your new boyfriend's car that has white vinyl seats but no air conditioner? That stuff runs like crazy.
